    last time they were fucked times for you, so it all balances out
    On a kind of related note, how fucked is it that they are thinking of changing the times
    of the swimming events for the next olympics? Just to fit in with US broadcast
    timeslots... now they've got the finals in the morning and the heats the night before???
    Why? theres gonna be some SHIT finals now...

    And the fact US companies are the largest sponsors of the Olympic games, and NBC is the largest broadcaster of the games has ALOT to do with it. UPS, Coca-Cola, Home Depot, Bank of America are the largest supporters......if their names, their product isn't seen by US fans they won't want to ante up the $$$. Without the $$$ there is NO games.

    Sorry that's real life, that's business......not utopia.

    See, now thats whats wrong with the way they're looking at it...
    There were Olympic games well before there was massive broadcasters and sponsorship, the reason there is an olympic games is the performances of the sports people. What would you prefer to watch: a bunch of people you've never heard of compete against each other, or a bunch of people youve never heard of compete against each other and have a chance of breaking a world record? Sure change the swimming to the morning, but dont expect anywhere near the same performances as your getting now, or any times close to ones your getting now. Just cause they've got the most cash to spend, doesnt mean they should mess with the sanctity of the event, or the traditions of the sport....for example how would you like it if ChinaTV tells you the Superbowl has to be held at 3am cause thats peak rating time for them, and they are the major sponsors and are the majorbroadcasters? (purely hypothetical, feel free to replace ChinaTV with and countries Tv channel you want)

    Yep sure, you can control what and when its broadcast, i dont care about that. What im whinging about is the fact that NBC is trying to change the event itself. Broadcast it when ever you want, dont try to change the whole make up of the event to suit the broadcasting. If you wanna show the swimming, then show the swimming, but the heats are run in the morning and the finals at night then sorry Joe, thats the way it is. Either way ill still be able to watch the swimming but id prefer to see athletes competing at the top of their game, instead of half ready.
