Yes, I do enjoy fly fishing. However, I actually didn't do any of it on this trip. Every single fish I caught was with a spinner using a casting rod.

And absolutely you can come. Getting to Alaska is the hard part. Once you're up here, I'd take care of the rest.

 

Way fucken cool... I actually want to plan a trip up there for salmon fishing with my 9 weight fly pole. I was told they come in abundance on an even year. Since this is 06 it looks like in 08 there is a good chance i might be up there going for king salmon.

 

I've never heard anything about the even year thing. Pretty sure that if it was true, it would be well known up here. Pretty sure it's b.s. Would be interesting to see where you heard that.

I'll look forward to seeing you up here sometime in the future man. You'll never want to go back.

As far as hearing that they migrate in larger numbers on an even year, that was told to me by a friend of mine who goes up to alaska and fished a couple times. Thats a story i was told. But if you say they swim every year in the same numbers you might se me up there even sooner.

We might catch lunch or something.

It seems like every year for at least the last 5 or 6 years has had a great run of King, Red, and Silver salmon in this area. They predict the same for the next couple years I believe.

Even in an "off" year, there are substantial numbers of fish coming in.

 

Ok got a question for everyone....my chicks not talking to me and it got me wondering...

How long would you wait till you rang her? and after how long of not talking would you think you've broken up?

 

for the fishing:
same as with hailbuts i prefer the smaller ones - around 1 pound - and the german brown is the only one to be found in the rivers around here. greater challenge to catch by fly and spinning and tastes much better than the rainbow which is found in lakes, ponds - imported from america for mass-breeding and escaped from there years ago (so something you might call an "alien" here ).
due to environmental pollution and river-"redesign" for power-producing and transportation we don´t have many salmons in german rivers, situation has become much better according water-quality, but it takes ages to get the salmons back here.

for the ringing:
do it - now... at least asap.

You are not the only one agreeing with me about the difference between rainbows and browns. I definately prefer the browns over the rainbows.

As to Greenandgold. How often were the two of you talking before? Do you use to call each other everyday? Has the pattern change? This pause in communication must be longer than the normal ones hence you asked this question. If that is the case it all depends on how you feel about her. If you are still interested in her call her. If you are not then take this as a cue to move on.

 

in southern germany we also have chars - they are even better...
i´m not into fishing for "trophys" (if anyone is - go to some of the larger rivers here like rhine, have a dead chicken as a bait and wait for some of the senior-catfishes but be assured that you have at least one buddy to help you out with carrying the fish...)

well, on the one hand i´d like to have him back here earlier too, but on the other hand - have a "date" with him in berlin some day after the final match in berlin... so...

 

I am curious. Green, what time is it where you are at now? I remeber 4 years ago i would wake up at 3-4 am to watch the US play because of the time difference between here and Japan. I wonder if this world cup means shitty hours for your viewing time.
