Oh, i enjoyed it; but this was after i'd been to LA, SF, Boston first.

Every phunner must see Vegas before they die. It's like a law.

 

I took the Greyhound both ways one time, then after meeting some people in San Fran, we hired a car, drove to Vegas, won some cheddar then, as we were all European (Me, Irish girl, guy from Holland and his girlfriend from Denmark, and a lone, mad, German) decided `fuck it` and drove to Miami. Took 6 days, going all over the map, got there really late at night and slept on the beach.

Good times.

 

'Course, i was a shit load younger and far more innocent.

Plus, we're talking pre-September 11th here. Different world.

 

Definitely Vegas but it's gonna be next year .

This year i have been in Australia, Poland and in 3 weeks Miami

 

Where in Oz?

They have a great way of making things simple for people. They might say, i don't know....Port Lincoln or something, but they always tag the nearest of the big cities on the end so you know vaguely where the fuck they're talking about.

 

That's some of the most diverse scenery this country has to offer.

 

Sydney, i have some cousins there.

Miami is a cool city. Great culture, great food, hot babes.

Florida is an interesting state. My brother lives on the gulf coast side. Just don't get eaten up by an alligator.

I'm happy to say i've seen a lot of it. Alaska, Hawaii, Pacific Northwest, LA to NY and back, betwixt and between. Greyhound helps.

Sydney is the best city in Australia. Nice intro to Australia itself. Melbourne tries to hard to be this international city - downtown's all grey and shit. Brisbane suffers from a little surfer-dude stylings. Cairns is just a tourist trap.
Adelaide has always suffered at the hands of it's bigger, brighter sisters. Kind of a twee city. Perth is very English and individual, being stuck out all on it's lonesome. Darwin.....who the fuck knows if there's anyone still alive up there....probably full of Japanese soldiers still fighting the war, it's been so long....

'Course, being British, i much prefer New Zealand.

One time I took Greyhound from Chicago to Springfield Missouri, I got to sit next to a serial killer. I shit you not, the dude was seriously scary.

You know which side your bread's buttered.

I've had a few moments like that, but they were few and far between. Travelling long distances, you quickly realise who's going for length and who's getting off in a few hours. So you kind of hang together, age group not inclusive.

Sure, you also get lucky. Busy night bus coming out of Port Authority (NY), pretty girl gets on and asks for the window seat next to me. I graciously offer. Later, she tries to doze off and i gentlemanly offer my fleece as a pillow. She accepts.
Turns out she's going home for a couple of weeks from Columbia. She's going to Pittsburgh; i'm passing through Pittsburgh.

Long story short, i ended up staying with her in Pittsburgh, with her mother so enamoured by `the nice English boy` she was virtually hinting marriage, and went back and crashed in her room for a couple of weeks.

Very good times.
