This sounds awful, & I'm sure it would be different if I had my own... but I can't stand kids for more than 10 min. or so.

One thing though is never ever tell the child you love them more than their parents do. I was joking around when my nephew wanted some chocolate candy from me and i gave it to him, he innocently told me his parents don't let him eat chocolate until he has eaten his dinner. So i blurted out that it is because they don't love him as much as i do. My sister overheard that and went ballistic. She wasn't pissed that i gave him candy but she said at that age he believes everything that is said by an adult and he will literally think his parents don't love him as much and therefore they won't let him have candy before dinner. Boy did i get a scolding for that.

 

And I did say I wasn't any better! Hell, I'll probably be feeding dollar bills into the g-strings of 21 year old women until I die!

That pretty funny. I have a habit of saying "aw shit". On the 4th I had my parents over, and while we were having dinner, my baby dropped her fajita at the dinner table. She turned to my mom and said AWWWWWW SHIT!!
My mom said nothing. She turned to me and slapped me.

Hahaha! my nieces and nephew has a few lines that they pick up from my brother-in-law and my sister. they are "don't do that"(with their finger waving) and "oh man." My sister and BIL doesn't cuss but it is still funny to see them mimic their parents.

We were talking about psychology earlier. Did you know that children don't understand sarcasm until they're like ten years old? The concept just flies over their head. Some children are more cynical than others, depending upon the enviroment in which they were brought up, but yeah, you have to be careful how you say things to little kids. I talk to my daughter like an adult, but not like she's an adult, if you get my meaning. I try not to talk down to her. As a result, she communicates very well for her age I think. I just don't expect her to understand everything I say, but I try to understand what she hears. It's a challenge.

 

I have a pottey mouth. You all know that about me already.

I am trying not to cuss at all anymore. Its a hard habit to break, especially when I am drunk. My baby is like a sponge.

 

My kid knows all the words because I refuse to alter the way I speak - but she also knows better than to use them. Her nana has made sure of that! But every now and then she'll let something slip out - It's kind of cute in a way - sometimes you can't help but laugh - so I don't give her a hard time about it. Hell, it's just words.

 

My daughter is far smarter than her age. She has been going to a private school for the past year, and learned a whole lot. The only thing i dont like about that is what she picks up from other kids. But she does blow my mind every day. Her sense of accomplishment is huge.
