    Young lady, I'm 45. I've been on my own for 27 years and have picked up some kitchen skills along the way, especially Italian and Mexican cuisine - pasta, breads, fish, chicken, beef etc...

    I don't watch the Food network however. There are a couple of shows on PBS that I watch on Saturday mornings every now and then when I want some new ideas.
