Hi merlin! How's it going, hon?

 

I had a chilly day myself. Now I'm cooking dinner and 2012 will be on TV later.

 

interviewer: so you decided to write and record this music in a very strange manner, do you mind sharing what you did

geoff of "Warz ant Mable" rock band: well as you know we really wanted to have that raw sound, that sound they had back in the 70's in london with the punk rock band of that time, like Red Zippa and Death to you Gramma had... so ah.. well we decided the best way to to bring a little bit of london to us.

int: How did you do that?

GOWAMRB: it was really simple really, i was on ebay one day and found one of those old red telephone booths from London, you know the kind that are in all those old movies and stuff. and it was only 500 bucks. so i bought it. I had it shipped to our studio here in LA and set it up using the hand set as the microphone, so it was like everything we did was recorded by a microphone that came strait from the streets of London. so the entire CD was made like that.

int: you mean you sang into the hand set?

GOWAMRB: Oh is was more than that right, it was like.. the guitar and drums and even Gillians String Bass was recorded like that. that was hard become its almost as tall as him, and one of the rules was the door had to be closed during recording. so yea, it was difficult but we really think it gave us that London sounds.

int: is that why the drums are a bit sparse on some songs?

GOWAMRB: Well he had to close the door right, so all that would fit was a snare a cowbell he held and a symbol the sound engineer attached to the top. it really was difficult getting a good rhythm sound we wanted out of that let me tell you..

int: you do an acoustic duet whit Tommy, your lead guitarist , becouse you recored everything in a phone boot, was that done together then?

GOWAMRB: well that was hard becouse me and Tommy really wanted to have that "together feel" to the song, we tried recording it with just each of us alone in the phone booth but it just wasn't working, so we decided we would do it live in a way. with both of us in there. it worked out best in the end.

int: Tommy was injured during that tapping

GOWAMRB: its a small space, and i jump around allot when i sing. he seems to be healing up well and hopefully he can join the tour before to long.

int: well thank you very much for talking with us. and good luck with the album

GOWAMRB: the what?

int: the album, the one you just released

GOWAMRB: lady we released a CD, i dont know what the *beep* you just said...Album.. what the hell is that?

int: never mind, just good luck

GOWAMRB: right. thanks for letting you talk to us

C: pretty much ya.

M: but theres like two hundred thousand of us, and you brought like fifty guys and a dozen of them are riding on big dogs

C: yea that was the plan, but ahh.. anyway, those are horses

M: what are horses

C: those things my men are riding on, they are called horses

M: oh.

C: so you wanna fight or just have dinner

M: lets have dinner, and discuss it.
