Well an idle mind is a devils workshop and so on.......but what about when you're not idle but still don't get the intellectual kicks you want.....do you get like that?

 

Not really, no. For the past 3 years I've been contemplating scenarios for a novel I'm working on. It accounts for a great deal of my mental masturbation, so to speak.

 

Really? care to fill me in?

 

It's a work in progress. It is in fact my 3rd. Hopefully some day I'll get published. They all revolve around the exploits of a wealthy man who works for the CIA, though they are not spy novels. He's not a spy, he's a linguist and an assassin, though none of the stories revolve around an assassination. He just tends to find himself in situations that he'd rather avoid, situations that don't start out as assignments but just take on a life of their own and take him along for the ride. The first novel revolves around a murder and a kidnapping that makes no sense to him but are connected without his knowledge. In the second he happens upon a couple of expatriot KGB mechanics (hitmen) who are selling smuggled weapons in an effort to create a retirement fund. And the third is about.... I'm not certain. It has something to do with a list of dead men, revenge, a subplot about his estranged daughter, and another subplot about some political nonsense his business partner gets caught up in. I'm not sure how to string it all together or even if I should have two subplots.

 

I always pictured you writing more like Hunter S. Thompson or Bukowski.

 

I want to write commercial stuff that sells lots of books. I'm only in for the money. IF I ever get published.

I might explore some other genres, maybe even non fiction.

 

Not to discourage your current venture but I think you would have a lot more interesting and profound things to say if you just penned your thoughts.

 

Meh. Who wants to spend money on that? Besides, my stories are full of my thoughts.

 

Well if you ever publish them I want a signed copy.

I think India would make an intriguing backdrop for a story line. If I concoct a reason for one of my characters to be there, you're input would be priceless.
