I remember when I was 11,12 or 13, one of my childhood friends would go on stealing sprees at the drug store. She would steal make-up, jewelry and stationary for everyone.

No, I was thinking. There surely is a difference between a developmental stage (something every adolescent may go through) and something as severe as an actual case of diagnosed cleptomania. To steal something for fun, or maybe because you don't get enough pocket money to buy it -- or to pathologically steal things you don't need, from friends/relatives, simply because you feel the inexplicable and urge to do it.

 

Of course there is....it would depend on when it started and how long it lasts,other than that there is no exact way to know, none that I can think of right now anyway.

Again you have the child factor as well........if an adult stole something then there s 80% chance of a deeper issue because they know stealing is wrong.........with kids it's not that easy.
