I have some disapointing news: I had to disqualify #1 (lostboys) for voting for his own entry. It's clearly stated in the rules that it's not allowed and when I put up rules I have to stick by them.
Chumwithrum, who voted for this sig, gets a chance to vote again.
He's disqualified for this week, but is welcome to participate again next week.

That is really dissapointing actually. I didn't think anyone would want to win so badly that they would cheat.

Good move Bio. Thanks for sticking to the rules mate.

I really miss the poll feature.
i never want to offend anyone, and with all the great work, it just seemed better to me.
dont get me wrong im still voting but.... and anyway there is nothing can be done.

I couldn't believe the heat between Evileye and Jamms earlier in the voting thread.

23 posts and the guys already making enemies, not a smart move really.

Okay man, now I'm a little mad. I'm not trying to "add fuel to the fire" I'm just stating that the guy was out of line talking the way he did.

    For instance:
He's purposefully calling him stupid fucking names to get on his nerves, so if anyone was "adding fuel" to this fire, it was him.

Sorry, I disagreed with his initial point of sigs good only if they're complicated, as well as his sarcastic mocking of a senior member here...

But hey, I guess I'm the crazy one! :p

Ok, I am new here, point taken.
I only have 25 posts under my belt....a good start ?
But really, I am a little disheartened with the politics thus far.

    Allow me to digress;

My post that seems to have brought the wolves out:

    http://forum.phun.org/showpost.php?p=2594641&postcount=48

First of all, I state for the record that I do like the image.
However, the sig involved is merely a copy of the actual image with some font added and a border.
The argument seems to be: hey.....this is good enough !
Well I'm not the Judge and Jury here, but I let my opinion be known.
Really, how much creativity actually did go into this ?

Honestly, I think the Sig is great..I like it

Please notice the IMO.....In my opinion.
Again, this is just how I feel on the matter.
What you may think makes a great sig is probably different, and that's perfectly fine. But for me, a sig should be something one creates from scratch, his or her own art....IMO

I think in the Sig Rules, it states "No Ripping"
Ripping being taking an already existing image and adding Text or a Border to it.
Well, without Layering, textures, gradients, masks etc...isn't copying an image Ripping ?

A genuine thanks to everyone involved.

So, in a nutshell, I made this post, then was told by a Senior Member that I have pissed on his Parade and I'm a Fucking Star.
Great, nice way to make new people feel welcome.

If I was out of line in my replies, my mistake.
But at the same time, I think it warranted.
Really though, I do want to put it to rest and move on.

I do think this is the first and last time I will try and "mingle" with the Regulars in this Contest Genre.

    Peace

    EE

Did you notice who was the first one losing his temper and being rude? Apparently not... I'm not trying to defend anyone but Evileye's first post on the voting thread was a normal opinion... As Jammsbro as his.
Another issue were is responses later, but there we was already responding to a rude post (not that it makes it better).

Some people like sigs with tons of PS work, others want them simple, I like them no matter how as long as they're good from my perspective. We live in a plural world (thank goodness!).
Imagine if everyone only liked the same type of man/woman? It would be 1000 guys after one woman and vice-versa (or guys after guys and women after women, for the gay community ;)). I'm glad there are different opinions/tastes!! :D

Flaming is flaming - It is clear what evil is doing. Jammsbro is being reserved. Comments are about sigs and what you think. Not about how you think they were made or your personal preferences. If someones style is minimalism or whatever that is there bag. It doesn't matter if someone likes it or not.

ps - you dont walk into a bar and mingle with the regulars by commenting on their clothes, personalities or anything else.

Yeah, that's a great analogy... You don't start yelling at a guy who just walked into the bar and said his opinion either..

Taking an image from the celebrity section, cropping it, adding a border and some text may not be your (or my) way of making a sig, but it certainly isn't ripping.

Ripping means taking an image that someone else has worked on (could be as little as adding a border/cropping/whatever) and claiming it to be yours.

Seems like alot of you guys are far more creative with comments/discussions than with sig making.

... that is just an opinion btw...

Toolz, Innu, TCF, Bio, Nems (to name but a few) and many others are excellent sig makers. Really good at using photoshop to their strengths. They can utilise many skills and tools (no pun intended) to create a very original work with p/shop. this is something that has been discussed along time ago and something that i really respect.

Myself? I have basic photoshop skills, something i have always stated. But i have a decent eye for seeing what will look good. To me it doesn't matter if the sig has a ton of work or not. If someone finds a brilliant image and uses it carefully then it will look great.

I only got pissed because a guy with better photoshop skills looked down on a guy with basic skills as being a pretend sig maker because i use basic images and minimalist techniques. I geniunely love that the creative crew have such a varied range of techniques and look forward to Bio revealing the new sigs every week but i dislike someone telling me i am not a proper sig maker or whatever simply because i use basic techniques to come up with a dramatic image.

Lets let the votes decide which is the best.

Alright, I can see how my statement could have been taken that way.
But honestly and sincerely Jammsbro, it wasn't meant as mailicious or a personal attack on you.
I don't even know you Bro, I know nothing of your sig making in the past or your methods.
I was not even aware that you may have entered or that you even use Photoshop.

Anyways, can we start anew and put this behind us ?
