Beardstown is 100 miles SW of Bloomington, so, about 200-225 from Chi town

 

I have a question for you Cy.. if you can answer it. in the states how about a semitrailer, does it need insurance and be registered before you could take it on the road?

I'm even worse. We pull what the states call "superloads" the blades Im on currently are 144'6" long, 11' wide, but only 13' high @ 13,500 lbs. It's that 144 feet that makes it a super load lol.

 

superload restrictions are by state, of course. Here in Illinois it's

3 escorts, no travel after noon on Saturdays, no travel at all on Sundays, permitted routes only and a permit cost of $350 per load.

and what if you are an independent trucker and only haul other peoples trailers... does the owner have to make sure it's all in order or is it the trucker him/herself that has to make sure all that is done

 

been on a long trip today again, almost 100km ride (I didn't have to drive strangely enough), neighbor bought a caravan

 

if you just buy a parts truck you'd put it under tow or load it then you wouldnt need anything. The truck must be legal anytime it's on the road, the driver is the one who gets the ticket most times these days. Itt used to be the company got the ticket for ifta, vin, mc and dot violations, but recently DoT has been going after the drivers more.

 

Depends on how far you're going. You need to be able to prove ownership and liability insurance. You can likely get a temporary permit to move it so long as it's not loaded with anything - that's where all the rest of that shit comes into play.
