    Flippy, over three days, 12 or more states were involved with tornadoes.......area wise, about 25% of the entire continental USA without Alaska.

    is it still the old way of dealing with the tornadoes and seeking shelter in basements. Or do you tend to try and evacuate the areas if there is time.

    The same old way....no time to evacuate.....sometimes only minutes of warning, though tornado watches are published/broadcast to let folks know to stay alert and ready...most homes in the southeastern USA do not have basements....especially Florida due to high ground water levels....

    Around here it's a timing issue. Do you have time to get out of the path a seek appropriate shelter? Most don't as there are few dwellings with basements. A lot of trailers in the area. Thank Goodness we don't have to worry about tornadoes often.

    Yeah i guess sometimes when you expect the tornado to hit nothing happens other times when there are no signs of it to hit it does anyway.

    true and you have pretty good walls to prevent any water from hitting mainland down in Holland. So you are prepared if it gets really bad.

    I think our propensity for tornadoes is spawned by the Gulf of Mexico and the flat topography of the central portion of the USA. These two factors create the clash of two weather fronts that is conducive to the creation of tornadoes....Eastern Europe does not have these factors....

    that is correct the way our meteorlogist has explained it is impossible for us to get tornados here we dont have big enough weatherfronts here.
