When you're using this all over smudge technique, always go with Topaz to finish it off. It'll smooth things over, but accent certain edges that were lost prior to it. Just don't overdo it (I use about 4.00) because then you'll end up losing clarity.

I think the Topaz version looks miles better imo.

No, the bushes are a brush reversed 1/2 side at each end. The lightning is another brush, the sparkles are a galaxy effect, the upper sky is a julia fractal I made in Apophysis over a gradient lower sky/water. Then I used a "glossy" effect over a retinex to give the whole thing depth. Did a merge then duplicate. Stuck in the text, applied a pillow emboss 50% white/black. Set the top pic to overlay, merge down over the text, stroke, no merge, turn off the text, grain merge the stroke with the bottom pic, turn on text merge all. All done. I think it'd be fun if the CB had a contest using original work (no source pics) using just the tools/skills you have to make a themed pic. Something decent sized for once, instead of postage stamp sigs. 1920x1200 or something. Doesnt matter how you do it, as long as you can produce a zipfolder of the tools and step pieces you created to make the whole product, with layers.
