Some, or all, of you guys may think I'm being picky, but that's why I'm a mod. To be picky. You can use gfy all you want, just link to the gif you created, not the webm. That was/is the whole point of using this host/website, of which phun was an early advocate. A new way of hosting gifs.

As I stated before, if you want to create little edited videos using gfy as the primary host, feel free to create a new thread. There's also the vid.me thread, which we can easily expand to included gfy webm's. There are plenty of options. We don't need to crowd existing threads to accommodate new formats.

 

Without wishing to incur your mighty wrath Scribe, I read that as it being okay to crowd another thread you don't so much care for, just not this one? Did I read that wrong?

No. Actually, the vid.me thread was experimental as a host for edited videos. The content can be anything ranging from porn to nature documentaries. And the videos can be as long or short as you like. gfycat vids likely don't belong in that thread, but gfy is different today that when I first suggested our members try it. At that time it was still an experimental website created to compress gifs into short videos, and not the other way around. Gyfy's mandate has changed dramatically since it was created due to it's use on social media. None of which has anything to do with this thread.

Again, this is a gif thread for gifs made by gif making phunners, who have a long history of making gifs.

If you guys want to create videos, more power to you. Just start a new thread for them. That's what this forum is for.

 

And I'm not saying you can't host your gifs on gyfy. But if you're going to host your gifs on gyfy, make certain it's obvious they were created as gifs in the first place.

 

Well; that's cleared that up.....

 

I never even realized GFYCAT had a gif format. This is how I got it to work. Sorry if this was explained before.

1. Uploaded my edited video to Gfycat
   
2. Grabbed the code from the Gfycat2BBCode applet
3. Edited the code, replacing the link to the .webm file with the link to the .gif file
4. Posted the code here, my example:
