    I was talking to a neighbour two or three hours ago as I was going out to Tesco's, and we both commented on the sudden absence of the garden birds!
    I've been struggling to keep pace with their appetites for the last month or two, but in the last couple of days things have virtually stood still!
    Even the pigeons appear to have departed! :eek:

    It's not a popular practice with everybody! When we had a perceived rat problem recently, one of the people I spoke to in our settlement suggested that feeding birds was a major contributor!
    I pointed out that I'd been feeding birds since I came here in 2007, and no rats had ever been seen before now, and there were at least two or three others feeding birds too.
    Luckily the rat problem was soon solved - I suspect it was in fact a lone rat, one of the old ones that apparently get evicted from a colony and don't live long, and there's nothing in our covenants about birds anyway.
