If its a kids programme, it's kids of all ages, I'd class it as drama.

I haven't watched it in decades, and I have to admit that the trailer suggests it's far more adult than I remember!

I've never watched an entire episode of the show. I watched a few minutes of it once, but the acting and production values reminded me of the original 60's Star Trek... and before you ask, I have no idea about what episode it was. It was some time ago, and I only checked it out because so many people on another board seemed such devoted fans (for some reason which still escapes me).

On another front, I did check out that show you recommended, Upstart Crow last nite (this morning for most)... it was hysterical! Especially if one has even a passing familiarity with Shakespeare. It would probably be even funnier if I understood British lingo, but even that comes through pretty well. Sadly, at $3.00 per episode, it's a bit much for me. Living on a fixed income has forced upon me a preteratural parsimony in all things not necessary to sustain life... What I may do is "buy" the enitre 1st season (as much as one can buy empty air).

But you were right, I very much enjoyed the first episode! A little hamfisted and overacted, but in a good way, particularly given the dialogue, which was very funny! A little mean to Will, but in a way I'm sure even he would appreciate (or not, depending on what version of history one has subscribed to, but it's still funny).

Today then would be a really good place to start to watch.. Doctor Who
Its moved on a long way from then, but i suppose after 55 years on screen it would.

Glad you liked it, some of it refers to in a 16th Century Way, 21st Century problems (Brexit etc) and a failing transport system, Will returns from London "How was your Coach ride?" and 16th Century attitudes, Kate wanting to be a actor, "Women can't be actors, where would you put the coconuts?".

    $3 a episode!!!!

I've already set my DVR for it. May as well give it another go.

I definitely got the references to 21st century problems... funny thing is, many of then were problems back then as well... one of the advantages of all that study of history, makes it all the funnier...

Yeah... $3 bucks a pop seemed a little steep to me. A bit much for a half hour of TV.

If you're in the UK, we can access them free, but the BBC iPlayer doesn't work outside the UK apparently even with a VPN.

But I read the BBC & Channel 4 are planning to launch a subscription system to rival Netflix.

All becomes clear! With his knowledge of the views of London I casually presumed that dblboggie was posting from there - but having checked I now see he's posting from The States!

I use a VPN but when i'm outside the UK, the BBC iPlayer used to work, but the BBC Boffins updated it & now it detects if you use a VPN.

    Meanwhile
Gf back this afternoon, wants to bring me walking out in the countryside.
Its 8c today, the things i do for love.

    Meanwhile
Currently watching S3 of "Man in the High Castle".
    Best things in it.

Talking of Doctor Who, time to remind myself of my possible gf Karen Gillan aka Amy Pond.
First she stunning, second she's 5ft 11in, i love her legs and she's a scot and i'm love with her accent.

:yumyum: I have always found her attractive, and a part of it is because of her occasional exhibitionism and I'm not just talking about her nude scene save for a cap in some movie whose name I can't remember(or the short-lived series 'Selfie'). I remember reading a report back in her Doctor Who days about her having a bit too much to drink one night in a NYC hotel and proceeding to stroll around completely naked. Man, to have been staying at that hotel that night right Sophie?:naughty:

Amazon does offer BritBox here, but it's $7/mo, and I'm just not sure how many other programs I'd watch.
