Ah... therein lies the rub! If only we could start anew, springing forth from our mother's wombs fully girded from birth with all the knowledge accumlated from a full life well, or otherwise, lived!

And if wishes were fishes...

Being an inveterate crossworder, I interpreted this as pointing to "Baker Street" (forget the photograph!), but as I've discovered from Spider's fiendish polls, the intuitively obvious frequently leads one astray!

:thinks:... interesting... but I presumed no such machinations from Soph's response, particularly given that Baker St., for the very short distance it does run, is not even in sight of the Eye (I couldn't ignore the pic, sorry)...

Nowhere near Baker Street, which is in a different part of London.
By Blackfrairs foot bridge coming up from the stairs that leads down to the Underground station.

Just so! The one thing that drove me crazy about London is that no street seemed to go any longer than a few blocks at which point its name changed! In one block your on Baker St, in the next that very same street had an entirely different name! It's no wonder it takes years of training just to be a cabbie in that city (or used to, I don't know if GPS has changed that or not).

:yess!!: ... So in The City of London proper. There's a lot of very trendy eateries in that part of town, if you're into that sort of thing.

Summer is too short... it always has been for me. But I love your little roof garden Soph! Roofs are the best! And even the drab ones can be dressed up.

Thanks, I love my little roof garden!
In London, I'm lucky to have any space at all.

I think someone before me had something there, but when i discovered it, it was full of junk.

Landlord was delighted i'd cleaned it up for him & it costs him nothing lol.

    Meanwhile

London has vanished from my window this morning.

 ... Wow!!! That is a beautiful view of the city you have there Soph!!! Damn girl! You scored big time! Now I'm really jealous... [IMG] ... but really happy for you! :D

Seriously though, you're too young to have to be dealing with a bum knee... :( ... that could really come back to bite you in the arse in about 20 years... speaking from personal experience... :yup:

In the meantime, you have a lovely day...

I know and i (as you can see) live at the top of the house.
It seemed a good idea when i moved in, mind you going up that hill to the house sometimes.

Well i was born with funny knees, but been doing physio for years and it really helps.
Just now and then they have their own mind.

Now going to get hair done, got work thing tomorrow evening.

Hair done & pampered, met a girl (she worked at the Salon) and she showed me her Tattoo, but I was good.

Emma Watson posted this on her Insty tonight for LGBT History month; I'd like to add nice arse Emma.

I have noticed a few Celebs, (well Maisie & Emma) have posted pics on their Insty's with really wide arty borders. Maybe to make it difficult for sites the to post them?

The thing is some of those streets date from anything from 100 to 200 or in some cases 500 years ago, London was a lot smaller then and hence smaller blocks with street names.

London Black cabs still have to learn the "Knowledge", in other words memorise whole areas all across London, they don't use Sat Nav.

Uber drivers & Mini Cab drivers use Sat Navs, from my experience who is the more accurate?

    Black Cab drivers.

It's a wonder the landlord didn't promptly put up your rent since the property had now been "improved"?

That pic actually has the same border as an old Polaroid pic. As you're so young, you might need to Google that... ... so here's a pic
    [IMG]

It looks like she just took one of those old photos (shockingly, you can still buy the cameras and film) and posted a scan of it without cropping out the irrelevant bits.

It doesn't surprise me that the Black Cab drivers are better than those using SatNav... those cabbies spend years learning the streets before they begin picking up fares. Even veteran Londoners have trouble navigating Londons streets (at least that was the case when I was there).

He probably will once the rent review comes up, he's rare these days he deals with tenants directly and not via a agency.

There's a Polaroid app too where you can recreate the look.

Good grief! What's that old saw? Everything old is new?

And here I thought film cameras were lost to history. Now if they'd bring back Kodachrome 25. I loved that film! I still have one of my old developing tanks. I must have shot and developed thousands of Kodachrome 25 slides in the 70s and 80s. I can still smell the chemicals to this day.
