They've been emboldened, this is the result. That quote is something I know very well; it's actually something I used on FB when someone questioned why I cared so much about the recent anti-choice laws being passed here, since I'm not a woman it doesn't affect me right? I responded by paraphrasing this.

i dont know how scheduled your vacation is in France. Or what your interested in, but if its up your and your friends Alley i suggest a daytrip to Mont Ventoux. Fantastic views from the summit and a weird landscape to boot. Since you are in Nice its not that far away. Just bring a sweater as the name implies it is a bit gusty.
