That's a bit much. I know it's sacrilegious to ever say anything negative about Emma, but this reeks of an ego trip and someone who is taking themselves and their status wayyyy too seriously. You're an actress/activist, not "The infallible Emma: Queen of the 9 planets".

    Protection of "The Product".

I remember reading an interview with the late UK film Critic Barry Norman.
At the end of his career, he all but gave up the press junkets, he said you'd all sit in a room adjoining their hotel suite hired for the day.
You were told by their PR person on what you could and areas you couldn't ask about, they were warned that the interview would be
"Instantly terminated" if you attempted to stray from this.

He said this lead to endless interviews with all the same questions with minor variations of the answers.

Towards the end, he only interviewed established actors he'd known for decades and they knew him and trusted him.

In fairness, a lot of younger actors don't have much say in it, they're under contract, the production company employs
the PR company and very much dictate the message they want to get over.

I've never fully understood the "Celebrity" business, which apparently derives from the curiosity that some folks have about their screen or audio idols, as if knowing more about them and their private lives somehow might make their performances more relevant and meaningful?

I'm reminded of an anecdote about Sir Laurence Olivier when he attended a Hollywood Awards ceremony. After receiving whatever Award it was, the sponsors hosted an informal gathering of "important" investors and enthusiasts who wished to meet him and the other "stars". At some stage he found himself button-holed by a large be-jewelled lady who proceeded to ask fatuous personal questions that he endeavoured to fend off politely while remaining impeccably courteous and respectful - he had no way of knowing how important she might be?

Finally, presumably miffed at failing to winkle out some indiscretion she could dine out on subsequently, and clearly disappointed with his manner, she peevishly observed that he was nothing like he appeared on screen or stage!

"No, my dear", he charmingly admitted, "It's called acting"!

I get it if there has been a recent personal controversy or arrest or something like that, but to basically put out you can't ask anything except about her current work in an iron-clad contract is not something that a production or PR company or anything asks(since that kinda defeats the purpose of PR, to not allow anything to be said), that's a personal demand much like past celebs who have demanded only a specific color of M&Ms in their dressing room or that no one looks them in the eye. Not a good look Emma:rollingeyes::2cents:

Love that, "It's called acting", it reminds me of how people have been amazed about Jodie Comer's (Killing Eve) real accent.

She's appeared on Chat shows & hosts have asked: "But your own accent is so different".
She comes from Liverpool and has a broad Scouse accent, she seemed confused and replied.

    "I'm acting".

In the week before Easter in the UK, they had old films on in the afternoons on BBC2.
Before them each day they'd play archive interviews of the lead actor from the film they
    were about to show.

One day they featured interviews from Richard Burton from the mid-'60s to just before his sudden death
in 1984. He chain-smoked through them, but some of the questions asked would never be asked today.
"Do you love your wife", "Do you still drink too much", "Have you made crap films just for the money",
"Have you fallen out with Directors"
he replied to that "And Interviewers".

The last interview was with Barry Norman, they got into a conversation about family and legacy and what do you
want to leave behind, he said that he earns money and gives it away to his family and ex-wives. But he said it's important
to have something to leave behind, Barry Norman asked "Do you think about death"" "Yes, as I get older I do" he replied,
"Sometimes its been difficult to go on", "Why have you thought about killing yourself", he paused "Yes i have, not killing
myself, but having the same effect"
, the irony was he was dead two weeks later.

That would never happen today, PR people would step in and it's sadly rare these days for leading actors to be interviewed,
if they do it becomes an event, actors now appear to produce the product, the film, the book, the new project.

That's why I loved Letterman's extended One to One Interview Series.

I've seen the film based on it and the original interviews of Nixon/Frost, could you see that happen today?

You see the Media Junkets of Maisie & Sophie answering light and fluffy questions, playing games, being funny.
Then there are the Chat shows, where 5 minutes is a long interview & when you see it, all they did was promote the product.

So respect to Maisie who recently did a long extended interview on depression.

I saw a similar example in the last few months when watching an episode of "Have I Got News For you?" that was guest-hosted by Danny Dyer, apparently a stalwart of "EastEnders". His strong cockney accent was a major feature of that episode, as were his amusing cockney asides and comments, until Paul Merton for some reason felt moved to ask him if he always talked like that? He responded in a cut-glass upper-crust accent, "Of course not! I'm an actor!", and then continued for the remainder of the programme in his cockney persona.

PS A footnote to the above anecdote is that a few months earlier Danny Dyer had featured in the TV programme, "Who do you think you are?", which traces celebs' family trees back a few generations. In his case it was revealed that he could directly trace his lineage all the way back to William the Conqueror! The representative of The College of Heralds who completed the final links was clearly a bit overcome to be able to shake the hand of someone so rare and so special!

Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner Get Married in Surprise Vegas Ceremony After Billboard Music Awards
Congratulations are in order for the new Mr and Mrs Jonas!
Following the Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday evening — where the Jonas Brothers performed at their first awards show as a band in a decade.
Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner kept the celebrations going and got married in a surprise Las Vegas ceremony.

    https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/joe-jonas-sophie-turner-married-053420073.html

Not sure if I believe it, somehow I think they'd be selling the rights to their wedding (they both like the publicity)
and not give it away in a Vegas wedding featured on an Insty Live feed. When it does happen I'd give it two years
    (happy to be proved wrong).

I saw the X-Men trailer before Endgame, I'm yet to be convinced that Sophie Turner can do any better at good
turned bad, then she has with Sansa being regal.

It's a shame because I like her (she's very good at being Sophie Turner) its just when it comes to acting.

Yeah i saw that IDYTYA with Danny Dyer, like many old school actors they play a role for the public & the public belief it.

While many platforms of the media, have all but given up in depth interviews.
I'm glad to say they're alive and well in podcasts.

    I love David Tennant's podcast

Does anyone not have a podcast at this point? Shit, I might just start one if everyone else can:soap:

A little on the topic of actors and their roles and such; I recently started watching The Big Bang Theory again since it's about to end its 12 season run and I came across an interview with one of the supporting actresses Melissa Rauch. If you've seen her on the show, you know her as having a very distinctive high pitched voice. Now I knew it was part of the character, but I still was rather stunned when I watched this interview and she speaks in this normal Jersey voice and accent. I know I shouldn't have been shocked, yet I was. Just another example of what's been talked about on here recently. If you never saw her beyond this show, I would guess a good chunk of people would believe she is her character, when she is in fact quite the opposite in every way.

Right football match tonight (don't fall over/get fouled) then put final things in case, then really early flight tomorrow (with a stop over) then it's King's Landing.

    Meanwhile

I'm going to see Fleabag live!!! again (I saw the Original stage show at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2013) PWB is doing a final live run of Fleabag on the London Stage.

Apparently it sold out in under a hour, I got two tickets.
