wmv files that won't allow skipping/fastfowarding

I saw this posted on here before, someone posted a program that will fix the problem. Anyone remember what it was?

Go to the vid vault download the program asftool, when downloaded use the fix button.

 

I looked in all the stickies, and did a search for asftool and couldn't find anything. If possible, please send me a link to the download, or site where I can download it from. Thanks.

If you can't search for it look there first.

 

ok so how does it work?

 

After you download on the right hand side you have 2 options fix or make seekable. If you cant fast foward select the vid the click fix. It will will make it into a .brs.wmv file so you know it's been repaired and it usually works if not use make seekable. Never had to use that option though because "fix" take care of it.

 

On mine it says repair not fix, is that what you mean?

 

I meant basic repair, just checked.

Ok what does it mean when your # turns into a bunch of X's on the seeking line when you are repairing the file?

 

those represent the time each one represents a minute.

 

Right I know the # is one minute but what about the X?

 

Don't know about that, your still trying to fix the vid.

 

Yeah, its a pretty large vid but I figured it would have been done by now
