  2. Our gif only content threads have a rule where all thumbs must be posted as a static thumbnail that does not play. Currently imagebam made a change where they no longer produce static thumbs. Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

Reliable ImageVenue turning VIRAL?

    ImageVenue has been a pretty problem free site for image hosting in the past, and I've often relied upon it confidently. But in the past week i have noticed two spyware invasions coming through imagevenue visits, and I have noticed other people complaing of surprises as well. I suggest that maybe they are becoming sloppy at imagevenue and they are no longer top pick any more.:(

    they have had advertisers in the past try to install spyware onto the user's computer but they had since booted the advertiser. This would be new to me if it is a continued problem.

    I only use IV as a host for my pics,i click most of the pics posted here...NO Problem for me till now.....
    It's the best host we have at the moment.

    you´re never safe from infected files people have uploaded, no matter wich host.
    as for blocking ads (which can be "exploited"):
    adblock plus (Firefox)
    adblock pro (MSIE)

    iv's ad just tried to install spyware. but i think they will get rid of the advertiser soon.

    For those still using the IE, stop doing it. It's full of holes, no matter how many patches they apply to it.

    Use alternative and much safer browsers instead and you will be much less vulnerable to the issues described above.

    Firefox is the 1st such alternative browser to come to mind, but according to tests, Opera is still better. This is what I use.
