Posting individual pictures vs. zipped files

Anyone visit any other forums and run into threads where complete sets of up to 150 pictures are posted in the form of thumbnails? Even 15 pictures is a choir to download if you decide to do it. I cannot for the life of me figure out what is the rationale is behind this. It not only impractical for those who may want to download it but it's a complete waste of time for the person doing the posting. Wouldn't it be logical just to post 1 or 2 previews and then post a zip?

Well, I think the idea of these boards is to post pictures.

The fun is to look at the pics online an commenting on them ... If it was to just share zip files, use Torrents or other P2P programs ...

 

Yeah and if you have a large set the way to do that is to archive it and post it as a zip. Obviously if you start some thread with like 80 picture thumbnails you're not really sharing because no one is going to download that. It's almost like your way of keep bragging rights or something.

 

Wrong. You don't see any of the top posters do that?


The threads that are most popular and with most replies is the threads done by the likes of dirtyitaly, sancho with 100s-1000s thumbnailed pictures and not one zip file.

 

I take craps on zip files.

 

I'm not talking about random pictures of amateurs totalling into the hundreds or whatever. I'm talking one set of one girl.

 

Look at threads by me, TheRiver, TheSlayer..........No zips.

Although if TheRiver or I, or any of the other mods find a zipset it's gone anyway.

Why is this debate still going on? The rules are the rules........NO ZIPSETS PERIOD.

 

ZIP's may contain trojans or other form of crapware embedded into it ...

Thumbnailed galeries permit you to select which pictures you want to download permanently ...

First of all what are the odds of that compared to all the crap you get from reading your email and randomly surfing the net these days? And exactly what do you do when you want to download all the pictures in a set of the same girl but there's a 100 of them? Ok that's what I thought.

 

Well, still this is not the point of this board. The point is to post pictures not zip files.

And to other forums, how disappointing it is to open a thread, to see 1, 2 or no pictures at all, just a zip file? I hate that. That's why I love this site and not many others

Just some basics which makes this kind of discussion obsolete for the posting-style on phun:

For some reasons we fundamentally got rid of dvd/website-ripping, full-set-posting and such.
Take it as it is.
So: if anyone feels uncomfortable to click on each of the 20 pics per thread... less to do against that. Since we mods cannot control each and every rs/mu/etc.-link for pics we basically don´t allow them here.

I know places with different "rules" about that (only complete sets, added zip-links at least appreciated) - each on his own.

 

Pictures are in the zip files. I give up.

I've never been to a site where ppl would just post links and no previews at all. You're bringing up an unlikely example that is usually the exception and not the rule. In reality though doing this is no different than posting 150 pictures of the same girl in a single posting. Either way the end result is still the same, no one is going to download the full set in either situation. You're just wasting your time and the ppl who click on your post.
