My 16,000th post - AVN Female Performers of the Year

The AVN (Adult Video News) Female Performer of the Year is presented every January in Las Vegas, Nevada at the AVN Awards ceremony. It represents the female porn star who has had the best body of work in the previous year. It has been given annually since 1993.

Tori Black holds the distinction of being the first 2-time winner, having won back-to-back years in 2010 & 2011.

1993 - Ashlyn Gere

Ashlyn Gere - born September 14, 1959 in Cherry Point, North Carolina, is the stage name of an American former pornographic actress who performed in both heterosexual and lesbian films. She is also an actress in mainstream film and television.

1994 - Debi Diamond

Debi Diamond - born May 1, 1965 in San Fernando Valley, California, is an American adult actress and nude model. She appeared in her first pornographic film in 1983. The high point of her career was arguably in the early '90s, when she worked virtually non-stop and her performances garnered many industry awards, including induction into the XRCO and the AVN Halls of Fame.

1995 - Asia Carrera

Asia Carrera - born August 6th, 1973 in New York City, New York, is also an AVN Hall of Famer. Carrera performed only a few anal sex scenes during her career. Her first anal scene was in the movie A is for Asia (a film to which she owned all the rights) which occurred after her contract with Vivid finished.

1996 - Kaitlyn Ashley

Kaitlyn Ashley - born June 29, 1971 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is a former American pornographic actress and a member of the AVN Hall of Fame.

1997 - Missy

Missy - born Maria Christina, (September 24, 1967?August 13, 2008) was an American pornographic actress.

Missy, who was born in Burbank, California, began her career in the adult business in 1994, appearing in amateur videos with her then-husband Mickey G.. She quickly achieved fame, becoming a contract girl with Wicked Pictures. She was best known for performing in scenes with more than one male performer, and for her being on the receiving end of rather aggressive sexual intercourse ? rather rare at the time of her career peak.

Missy left the porn industry in 2001, sending an open letter to AVN magazine detailing that she had found religion after suffering a "mental breakdown."

On September 29, 2008, AVN reported that Missy had died from an accidental prescription drug overdose over a month earlier in Valencia, Santa Clarita, California. The information of her death was deliberately withheld by her family as they did not want any of Missy's pornographic ex-colleagues to attend her funeral.

1998 - Stephanie Swift

Stephanie Swift - born on February 7, 1972 in Louisiana is an American pornographic actress who has been actively making movies (with occasional breaks) since 1995. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009. She has appeared in over 370 adult movies.

1999 - Chloe

Chloe - born Chloe Hoffman on November 14, 1971 is the stage name used by a veteran American adult film actress, nude model, script writer and director.

2000 - Inari Vachs

Inari Vachs - born September 2, 1974 in Michigan, is an American pornographic actress.

She entered the industry in November 1997 at age 23, and has since appeared in close to 380 films. In 2010, Vachs returned to performing in Harder by skinworXXX.

2001 - Jewel De'nyle

Jewel De'Nyle - born August 5, 1976, is a former American pornographic actress and director. She is of Spanish, Sicilian, English, and Blackfoot Native American ancestry.

She was for a time a contract performer for New Sensations, and was in a relationship with pornographic actor Peter North for over two years.

De'Nyle has directed more than 72 films.

2002 - Nikita Denise

Nikita Denise - born July 25, 1976 in Czechoslovakia, is a Czech pornographic actress and adult film director. Denise has been featured in over 400 movies.

2003 - Aurora Snow

Aurora Snow - born on November 26, 1981, is the stage name of an American pornographic actress and occasional director. Snow appeared in a cameo in the Judd Apatow film Superbad with fellow pornographic actress Jenna Haze. She also made an uncredited masked cameo in the film The Rules of Attraction.

2004 - Ashley Blue

Ashley Blue - born Oriana Small, July 8, 1981, is an American pornographic actress. Blue married photographer Dave Naz on July 30, 2009. After 2009, Blue has been more or less inactive with the adult film industry.

2005 - Lauren Phoenix

Lauren Phoenix - born May 13, 1979, in Toronto, Ontario, is a retired Canadian pornographic actress. Phoenix entered the adult film business in spring 2003 and that same year won the XRCO award for best New Starlet and best Orgasmic Analist. In 2004, she won the XRCO Orgasmic Analist award and Female Performer of the Year.

Phoenix was nominated for the AVN Best New Starlet award in 2004 and in 2005 won the AVN Female Performer of the Year award. She also won in 2005 the XRCO awards for Orgasmic Analist and Female Performer Of The Year.

In 2005, Phoenix was hired by American Apparel clothing company to model tube socks and underwear in their catalogs.

2006 - Audrey Hollander

Audrey Hollander - born November 4, 1979 in Alexandria, Virginia, is an American pornographic actress.

Her first scene was in the film More Dirty Debutantes 268 with Ed Powers. As of December 2009, she has appeared in over 294 productions and is credited as co-director for the "Otto and Audrey Destroy the World" series of films. She won the AVN Award for Female Performer of the Year in 2006. Hollander and Bauer created their own porn production called "Supercore", distributed by Mach2 Entertainment. She made her directorial debut on the Mach2 movie pASSionate LOVE. In April 2007, she and Otto Bauer agreed to place their catalog of Supercore movies on American Vice.

2008 - Sasha Grey

Sasha Grey - born Marina Ann Hantzis on March 14, 1988, in California, is an American actress, musician, model, and is perhaps best known as a pornographic actress/performance artist. She is a founding member of aTelecine, an experimental, Industrial Noise band. In 2009, she made her mainstream feature film debut as the lead in Steven Soderbergh's The Girlfriend Experience. 2009 - Jenna Haze

Jenna Haze born February 22, 1982, in Fullerton, California, is an American pornographic actress. She entered the adult film industry in 2001 at the age of 19. Between 2002 and 2005, she was a contract girl for the film company Jill Kelly Productions. During most of her time at the company, she performed exclusively with women, out of loyalty to her then boyfriend, an industry cameraman. She returned to working with men in the 2006 multi-award winning release Jenna Haze Darkside, produced by Jules Jordan.

2010 & 2011 - TORI BLACK

Tori Black - born August 26, 1988; Seattle, Washington, is an American pornographic actress. She entered the adult film industry in 2007, and has since appeared in over 200 movies.

She is the Penthouse Pet of the Month for December 2008.

As of 2008, she was represented by the agency LA Direct Models.

Black appeared in her first anal sex scene in the 2009 movie Interactive Sex with Tori Black, with her first non-POV anal taking place in "Tori Black is Pretty Filthy", also 2009. She performed in her first DP scene in the 2010 sequel, "Tori Black is Pretty Filthy 2".
