Just got this annonymous email from someone who just registered with your forum and cannot activate his account,..he said

Hey, like can you help me talk to the admins(PM I guess?) To get them to activiate my account?

PBureno (username)

Because I'm having trouble recieving activations and I know it's not my problem its the sites.

simply someone cannot activate his account when he signed up,don't see something shady in that !

Yep,..i do not know him at all,simply out of the blue and not sure how he got my PERSONAL email address..maybe he is a member off my forum but i honestly never asked him

he emailed me with Phun.org forum in subject line and asked me if i still urk there cause he has a problem

maybe i can PM you his email address ? you already have the username

and check if he was banned for some reason or something ?

Well,..i mean this is why i see nothing shady with it at all,..

Cause it is just something he can easily fix

if he was banned even,... he can get a new email address at any free service and re-register but he is claiming between his computer and this board is a problem and he does not recieve any emails with the activation link

i mean what harm can he do ? this is why i fail to see the shadiness in his request..what he could be after ?

 

Maybe some software mistakes. He should try with an other new username(s), untill the activation link arives in her emailbox.

 

If he is using hotmail, gmail or at times yahoo.......the activation will end up being sent to his spam or bulk email folder. Tell him to check all those first before anything else will be done.

I am moving this to the correct forum (about phun.org) in about an hour (where questions like this should be asked..........and have been asked and answered before).

i tried to singup now MANY TIMES to this board..and i cannot get an email on hotmail or yahoo or gmail in my spam or my inbox to activate my account

he wants his account activated so he can post

I think you should REALLY resolve this issue with the emails...I've tried 3 different hotmails and 3 diff gmail accounts and I tried to send myself activation code again(from a link) and NONE of those methods work.

Being the guy that I am I went on google and just typed in phun.org @hotmail or @gmail and WA-LA a couple of emails from here, so I emailed like 5 people and none of them respond except for one person "cyberwave2006", which helped me activate my account.

So he IS telling the truth that it was VERY random about it and the guy that saids its "shady" How come it's shady? How is that in anyways Shady? Please elaborate

 

For people that are lurking around and cannot post because they didn't receive a activation code. It's not your fault. There's something wrong with the site, which doesn't send out the activation code.

Your only hope is getting someone to PM a mod OR get someone to post a thread about it.

I really hope the moderators/admin would fix this error. I'm sure more than 100+ people are awaiting their "activation" codes and cannot post :S

Before this I've tried basically every method yahoo/hotmail/gmail(multiple times) along with "requesting activation code" none of those methods worked...I waited almost 2 months and now I can finally post because a nice person helped me get some mod's attention so they could activate my account!

for some unknown reasons gmail and hotmail are permanently considering e-mail from phun.org as spam/bulk. not really phun´s fault.

a partial solution: there are many - mods and regulars - who have either e-mail or IM-accounts displayed in their profiles. use them if you don´t have access to PHUN-intenal PM.
Phun is always looking forward to new members - and i´m sure you´ll always find someone who´s able and ready to help you.

never had any issues with yahoo, btw. works fine since i´ve joined here.

 

Dear moderator this is not a topic of spam or bulk it is a real matter of Phun mail server problem which is by some fault not sending activation mails to any mail company. My friend already used most of email companies & also Paid mail accounts even then not getting any emai from Phun!

This can only be treated by site administrator Mr.Cayne by checking Mail server other wise no new user can Post in Phun!

aside the fact that there are new members each day who obviously got their activation-mail - we´re going to have a look at this and keep you informed.

just checked some threads/posts of those who have been complaining about not being able to post here...

lots of off-linking, site-promoting, cash-hosts... i can see why it sucks not to be able to spam here... *cough*.

please explain further, riv. i'm not quite sure i get it. are you saying these are mostly people who broke rules previously and tried to make new accounts?

i think you can do this under User CP and Edit Profile

 

well, i´ve seen a few, yes. "mostly" would be too harsh.
