So where are those who said last week we should expect a great scene from Rachel McAdams this episode that would compete with Alexandra Daddario's from last year? Is this it? Cause all I'm seeing is more of the same from hbo as has been the case this whole year: only extras and unknowns get naked now. I've said it before that we shouldn't expect any more main cast nudity from now on, and not only from hbo shows unfortunately...

 

Even Alexandra Daddario last season wasn't really main cast, she was just in 4 episodes.

 

This was incredibly weak and disappointing, but the whole show has been this season so not sure why anyone was expecting more.

Daddario's scene was a perfect 10 last year. This was a 4. Even the nudity we got was either super quick you couldn't see anything or blurred from her "drug state of mind."

Weak and pathetic by HBO and the producers of the show.

 

Thanks for the post. I watched it last night - great episode. It reminded me of the scene in episode 1 where we're introduced to Bezzerides; in her place we find a copy of 'Hagakure' (way of the Samurai) episode 6 was part of the pay off for that shot. I'm also remembering her earlier assertion, '...man of any size lays hands on me; he'll bleed out in under a minute.'
As for those who are disappointed, I guess it depends on what you look for in a show. With the current crop of absolute bullshit offered up by 80% of TV programing, I look upon a good well told story like a tall ice cold beverage at the end of a long hot thirsty day. I guess I'm one who did read the articles in Playboy as well as look at the pictures. I view Alexandria Daddario's scene as an unexpected extra prize in the box of a great story. Will we see any T&A from Rachel? It would be nice, but probably not and, for me, not necessary. Bezzerides is an interesting character with or without. I'm in.

These forums, in particular, are more to address nudity/sex things than analyze the show itself.

However, if you want to get into the show... the last episode was the first (and only) good episode of the season.

Between the miserable failure that was season 1 finale and the first 5 awful episodes of season 2, this show has been a trainwreck for a while now.

If it doesn't finish strong, it's in a lot of trouble going forward. I know what makes good TV, and True Detective hasn't been "good"

 

It was pretty lame how she was so drugged up that she was having hallucinations and seeing shit that wasn't there, and *actually* unable to form a sentence one minute, and then totally lucid 30 seconds later (after making herself puke, great) when the plot calls for her to recognise someone. Then she goes on to drag a semi-conscious person, karate kick everyone in the dick and stab some guy in exactly the right spot to make him die rather quickly...then as soon as they are in the car she's sweaty and incapacitated again. Adrenaline or just shit writing?

 

The writing is pretty bad this season. Solid acting, particularly Colin Farrell, can't save such lousy plot and dialogue.

first of all thanks for the vids, really appreciated

talking about the show, it was quite the opposite for me: she found a knife when she needed, taylor kitsch found the documents right when he entered in the property, etc... super stupid episode, the worse so far
