    This song is just so fucking epic on so many levels. The eery opening, the crushing rhythm of the verse sections, Glenn's solo in the middle, then K.K.'s solo, that haunting slow part towards the end, another dual guitar frontal lobotomy, then Rob absolutely shreds your fucking ear drums with that scream. It just doesn't get any better than this. I haven't seen this version before. Thanks so much for it.

    I'm a huge KISS fan. I have three out of the four on CD and Ace's on vinyl. I don't have Peter's because, well a friend of mine had it and I listened to it. Enough said.

    I remember hearing in 1978 that they were going to do these solo albums and then when Ace's "New York Groove" was the single that was released. I kept calling into the local radio station and requesting it. Ace is my favorite member of KISS. He is why I wanted to play guitar.

    I didn't know until much later why they released four solo albums at that time. In 1977 or so both Peter and Ace had started to say they wanted to leave and do solo projects. Paul and Gene didn't want to see the band break up so they said let's do this, we will all do solo albums, release them under the KISS name, and then keep going as a band. It was probably accepted that both Gene and Paul should easily have the best albums. Gene recruited a lot of all stars to come in and play and sing on his album. Peter would also probably put out a decent album because of his varied musical background and previous vocals on KISS records.

    The real question mark was Ace. Wasn't the hardest worker in the studio, terrified about singing. He had to record the vocals for "Shock Me" in a totally dark studio laying on his back on the floor because of nerves. It was figured that Ace's album would be a throw away. Boy was everyone wrong. Ace's album is a masterpiece from start to finish. There is not a bad track on it. Normally you want to skip tracks but not on this, at least I don't. So many awesome songs from the opening riffs of "Rip It Out" to the beautiful instrumental "Fractured Mirror".
