I've been fascinated with your text work recently. It's so professional looking. I can't emulate it very well at all.

When i say emulate i mean steal

i personally think text can make or break a sig a lot of the time, or at the very least can massively enhance a sig. and most of the time it's the hardest thing to do, there's sigs i've done in the past and just struggled with the text until i was blue in the face and then just not bothered! GB has definitely got the knack for it, and most of what i do is also 'emulated' from his style look at my current one, i thought i had the text all nice and polished, tried it with a light source but it didn't work so i left it, then he put that shine on it and it looks 10x better!

 

Absolutely agree with you lukin. I've even went as far as to deliberate as to whether or not i'm going to put any text in. It's definitely one of the toughest parts. The image can really hamper what you can do with it.

 

Yeah I typically spend 99% of my time working on the text in my sigs. It generally doesn't matter what subject matter you have; I mean anyone can slap some images together in PS. But nothing ruins a sig faster than quick one-off text that doesn't blend in or accentuate the overall composition. I like using different colors within the different parts of my text as well (eg. SOTW in white, 79 in a bold red, misc text in grey) it just adds a nice dynamic to it rather than having it all white. And imo working light into the text is almost crucial, so I just use clipping masks and white/black brushes to totally control the lighting. It's a lot more hands on than using any other light sources.

 

Making a good text is the hardest part of making a sig look good, often i just screw up a sig with putting on a text that's ugly

Excellent work Hel. I tried to do a basic tween last week but it all went wrong. Haven't had much practise at it i'm afraid.

It's excellent. And once again the text leaves me in wonder.

 

That is awesome. I wish I could get one of those but I don't know what I would choose as the sigs to put in it.
