Signature of the Week - Discussion thread

I have a new suggestion (don't worry it's not a rule change).

Seeing as this is to promote sig making and educate each other in sig making techniques i suggest that teh winner each week should tell us a little about their sig.

Just a few details, what gave them their inspiration, any interesting techniques they used and how they thought it turned out and so on.

This way the sig is more featured for a while longer and it would help share techniques and ideas with other sig makers.

 

Or sigmakers could supply the original render with each entry.

 

Or both. I like that jay put up his source images with his latest sig.

I think someone said it would be good if everyone used the same source images for a SOTW. That would be brilliant i think.

 

That should be a "optional theme".

 

that'd kinda lose the edge on how you percieve a theme. but if the winner decided to do that then it would be good.

and yeah, having the winner teling us about what inspired him would also be good.

 

I suppose there are only so many things you can do with an image after all. if might be fun to do private match ups though. to see how different imaginations interpret and use images.

yeah. on the ps3 forums, they have sigs of the week, but then people create new threads for "challenges" or "battles" where three or four (or more) and they battle to see whp can do the best sig of a certain picture. they have a 2 or 3 day limit from when the battle starts and then a poll decides the winner. it's great fun, and i'd be up for it here. they don't hav a free for all though. the battle contestants usually pm a couple of people to get a battle started then create the poll when they are all ready.

I realy like the "provided picture to work with" idea. But it's up to the winner to choose (and provide) the picture. If the winner wants movies or something as next weeks theme that's cool too.

If I win I'll provide a picture for next week... so: vote for mine this week

 

If some of us want to have a private competition to see how all using the same images turns out then we will. That is not an infraction of any rule and is totally in the spirit of phun. And everyone seems to really enjoy the idea.

And i don't know if you noticed but we're already having a really succesful one, its called sig of the week.

Why do you ALWAYS have to be such a smartass Jamms? River already said their wont be any sig battles.

Why cant you guys just continue with SOTW? It is a success. Just leave it the way it is.

I don't know the situation behind all this, As far as I know there are no rules against making sig battles but it would be nice if it is inclusive of all the members on here. Having things done that excludes others is a form of elitism that we should all work against in this board. So I can see if riv had said such a thing where it might come from. But if you are to do a battle please do not do it in a marque venue such as this where people are encouraged to showcase their work when some might be excluded from it. If you are going to include everybody then isn't that what the SOTW competition all about?

I will let you guys think about it, if you do want to battle make the thread in the general forum. I won't stop you.

 

lol. where? if it was said then it was in the context of people not liking the idea of the sotw competition which turned out very sucessful. if i want to pm a couple of people to have a sig battle with them then i will.

exactly. and i'm sure a lot of people will like the "battle" idea using a single pic. and it can be done as a whole or as private battles in which we would create the sig then set up a poll. sounds like good fun!
