She won Best Actress Oscar for Poor Things so I'm not sure I'd consider that a wrong move... even if Oscars are borderline worthless now with the changes to nomination process.

 

Huh? What happened with the nomination process?

 

In short, the new eligibility rules would make Godfather, Godfather part 2, Schindler's List, Chariots of Fire, Platoon, Deer Hunter and many, many other movies ineligible from competing for Best Picture (and possibly other awards) due to not having "at least one lead or significant supporting actor from an underrepresented racial or ethnic group" or "at least 30 percent of a cast in secondary and minor roles from two underrepresented identity groups" or "a main storyline or subject that centers on an underrepresented identity group"...

Failing that, there is still a chance for a movie to be eligible, but for that it need to have significant portion of production crew being from underrepresented racial, ethnic or identity group (we're talking at least two if not three department heads or minimum 30% of all the crew).
