    Dude was originally male orientated, the female equivalent apparently being "dudette" and "dudess"! :rolleyes: Thankfully, these have fallen out of favour and "dude" is now considered gender neutral.
    Perhaps like "guy"? "Hey guys!" now is used to mean "Hey everybody!".

    I was merely trying to defend spider's use of the word "dude" in relation to Sophie, which Xray translated as her being a man? So I gave a short version of the Wiki offering.
    I personally dislike the word, but that's probably a generational thing - or an English thing?
