    I was educated in Yorkshire into "Cathedral" English, which is a sort of quality English but with pronunciation not quaite so refained? I struggle to understand South Yorkshire people!

    There are parts of my "shire" so to speak that i struggle with understanding aswell. But i do consider their dialects more proper representation of how you expect a person from my shire to speak. Anyway im gonna return the thread to Sophie.

    Fuck she's cute.
    The old Cockney rhyming slang is much abbreviated.
    For example: Bo peep = Sleep, is now bo.

    But in its own way its now a bit of a museum piece, its been replaced by ethic dialect slang.
    I love old dialects/words in different Countries.
    I'm that way in some parts of Scotland, not so much by the slang, but by the accents.

    Sadly in England (Scotland/Wales less so) its been slowly replaced over the last 50 years by the onslaught of Television/Internet.
    No worries.

    man these crazy times out there have turned me into a sucker for cutesie human interest stories. Right now im watching the secret santa from East Idaho News on the tube. Why you might ask i have no idea maybe its that im starving for anything that isnt overly depressing like i feel things are right now.

    My commuting experience suggests that the worst periods of snow in the North (of England) happened in November - at least as far as travelling was concerned! It's unseasonably mild right now but there's almost half a month to go?
