I can see why they did it (was aware of especially Far East betting syndicates) but its a really 20th Century way of defeating it.

I really feel for Scotland to go out because of this stupid new rule.
To paraphrase: Goalie must not move from the goalie line in any way before the penalty is shot.
Nigeria suffered for this, but isn't it practically impossible to stay completely on the goal line without being ready
to take the penalty?

Perhaps FIFA has this in mind?

Not really into Bourbon, but I do remember late/early into a Party and they had run of out of alcohol and I was drinking Southern Comfort
straight, after a while, I couldn't feel my lips, made for some sloppy drinking.

That has been a problem with penalties in male football too. The goalie should hold the line but usually jumps a bit forward when diving. It feels a bit nitpicky to be so hard on it now.

 

I would write that most christians are fine the real group that scares me a bit is evangelical christians. Or simply put evangelicals. They only care about putting a white middle aged male in the whitehouse. Preferably highly republican and deeply devout to conservatism. If those requirements are met he can say or do whatever he wants.

 

I never cared for bourbon, scotch, or gin.

 

It isnt my intention to offend any evangelicals or republicans reading my previous statement.

 

Living where I do, that statement is sadly and frighteningly true though. I know, not every person in a subgroup is exactly the same but the most vocal ones, the leaders, the majority of them, count and where I'm at that is what they are by and large and it's like that in a lot of places. This is a big reason I'm a firm believer in separation of church and state.

But I am looking forward to seeing the USA really challenged.

Again really feel for Chile, they won but went out and again fell foul of the VAR/Goal line rule.

I see that the English FA will not be imposing VAR on the Goal line rule.

Saw Ep1 of "Chernobyl".

Excellent writing, I loved that it showed how much the Soviet Union was caught up in its own publicity.
(Even when at the very top was someone who had woken up and smelt the coffee).
The "We believe everything is alight" when the facts were staring them quite literally in the face.

Now, where else are we hearing Politicians going on the belief that everything is going to be ok and not basing it on facts? Brexit.

I'm not surprised that "Chernobyl" won't be broadcast in Russia (notice I say broadcast, but it will be seen) and that the Series
was "Western Propaganda", you can take the man out of the KGB, but you can't take the KGB out of the Man.

"Russian Television" is producing its "Own true story" on how the heroes saved the day.
There were heroes (Cannon fodder) who sacrificed themselves, I wonder if it will show how incompetent officials were?

Others are saying the series is "Not accurate", it's not a documentary, its a dramatised account with the usual "Characters
have been merged etc, but is based on"...

Finally

Happy Summer Solstice we actually have a Sunny day after what seems like day after day non-stop rain.

I remember when I was little in Australia being told how it was the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, but the shortest in the Southern Hemisphere.

I'm not going to think about the length of the days will stay the same for about two weeks and then they start drawing in.
