I finished Hanna last night.

Spoiler: Hanna

Apparently, it was written by the same guy who wrote the Original movie.
Basically, ep1 is the Saorise movie up till the bad guys discovers her & her "Father".
Esme Creed-Miles (daughter of Samantha Morton) is a good actor but unlike Saorise
for a lot of the Series, she's given very little to do, for about three episodes, she's either
a baby sitter/going to a club/getting off with her middle-class chav's "friend" boyfriend.

Unlike Killing Eve/Bourne who made Europe locations high impact, Hanna made them
look as interesting as a Surbaban shopping centre on a wet day.

You had the good CIA agent Vs the nasty CIA agent, but it's seen it before over & over.

Episode 6 - 8 do begin to pick up, but there are episodes 2- 5, that could have been edited together
into an episode and a half.

If Hanna had been 5 episodes, edited to impact action it could have worked,
but this 8 parter was so filled out and such a missed opportunity.

But really its been done and seen before, only better!

Look at "Killing Eve", very familiar ground, but it's been reinvented and had some great writing.

Hanna had a dated GWB era storyline.

If in saw reviews on IMDB complaining it was A/Too dark (as in scenes, not well lid)
and complaining about B/ the loud music... excuse me where have you been for the last three decades?

 

Starting Sabrina S2 tonight.

 

Ya know, maybe it's me but I have the distinct impression that you like these two.

 

Maisie & Sophie?
I like them, really like Maisie, I think she's pretty but she's also a really talented actor that has such potential.
Sophie is physically hot, she's very good at being Sophie Turner, funny, knows most of the time how to work
it for the Paps.
But as an actor I find her really wooden, I thought it just the character of Sansa, but it was in the same in X-Men
and very evident in "Josie".

So to me career wise in 5 years time, Maisie will be still around, not so sure about Sophie.

 

I was kind of sad to see that, as you say, Sophie doesn't appear to have much range. As somebody that still hasn't watched season two of Westworld I am kind of dreading this GoT finale.

 

Here's the way I see it.

I suppose its a case for Actor's, you're only as good as your last job.

If you become very current/fashionable it can be dangerous for your long term career.
Just because you're part of a huge franchise, its the series that goes on, you might in the
eyes of Directors/Casting Directors become too identified to that role.

So you could get loads of scripts which are a variation of what you've already done.

With the GOT actors, look at other roles they've done while GOT has been still running.
Have they done a variety of different roles to show how versatile they are?
What films/short films/Stage have they done?

Or have they pretty well gone off the radar until the next Season of GOT comes along?


Its strange to think by June, GOT (in its current form) will be over.

Well, Maisie has stretched out to various roles during GoT. There was some Netflix movie I can't remember the name of ATM that she was good in, that play she did that you alerted me to and I promptly saved a live stream of(she was pretty good in it too). So she seems to be in good shape after the show ends. IDK if Sophie measures up talent wise, but if a franchise movie that shes the lead of does massive business it won't matter what the reviews of her performance are as studios will look at the money her work made.

 

I have to agree with SophieK that SophieT seems very wooden in her roles. I thought the same .. that ST was just being Sansa.
Turns out she is being Sansa in everything. Unless that changes, I can't see her being around for very long after GOT ends this Spring / Summer .

Going by Sophie's first X-Men appearance, (she was wooden) I hope I'm going to
be pleasantly surprised by the new movie.

As i mentioned is Sophie is very good at being herself.
But everything I've seen her in on screen she comes across as really wooden

Onto S2 ep4 of Sabrina

Its a bit repetitive and unlike S1 lacks anything really new.
Kiernan as Sabrina is good as our the majority of the cast.
But Sabrina's new BF "Nick" (on the right in the pic), he might be pretty to look at
but he does a lot of "Acting", his delivery gives hammy a bad name.

Major respect to the writers (so far) on the Theo/Susie storyline.
Non-binary herself Lachlan Watson is such a promising young actor!

Killing Eve S2 Premieres Sunday ay 8pm (In the US) on BBC America, they're reshowing S1 back to back.

Its written (and adapted by) Phoebe Waller Bridge aka Fleabag, whose very final episode is tomorrow.
