  2. Our gif only content threads have a rule where all thumbs must be posted as a static thumbnail that does not play. Currently imagebam made a change where they no longer produce static thumbs. Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

    Lots of musicians are into sports. Music is a competitive business. Always someone trying to take your job! Same as in sports.

    My Dad would be the Dad Of The Year, as long as he was in need. When it came to any competition, he didn't do so well. He had a long standing gig at a particular bar, when that dried up, he disappeared for a while.

    When I was 6 my mom made me take piano lessons. I hated it! Then I heard rock music on the radio and fell in love with rhythm and drumming - it was just in my blood. I quit piano and joined the elementary school band on drums. I excelled exponentially from there and loved the hell out of it and it kept going from there. In high school I started getting called for paying gigs. Reading music allowed me to play jazz and classical, too, for money.

    I practiced a hell of a lot. Many hours a day at times. I divided my practice time into just "playing" and "sight reading," which is reading music perfectly the 1st time through.

    Rock is my true love, but playing anything live with a good band/orchestra, and a good audience/crowd, is a blast!

    I never learned to read music....just picked things up by ear and by watching other guitar players.....knowing music would have been a big help, but there were no options available to me to do that growing up.

    Some folks don't get the difference between doing it for a living and "Oh, my nephew played at his Bar Mitzvah!" though. :lol:

    There is some of that, sure. I do appreciate the effort even if I don't care for the content.

    I also Thank the first and last posts on pages in megathreads as a way of reminding me which content I've already reviewed as a mod, not because of what was posted. It's like a bookmark, and I've done that thousands of times at this point.

    I don't care to think about the views vs thanked ratio you see in most threads, but I suspect views apply to members and non-members alike, so there are a lot of people who don't have the ability to a Thank a post, even if they wanted to, because they're not registered on the forum.
