Some people have no reason and do it for the shits and giggles.

 

That Fappening report account on Twitter has been suspended, very dubious after they spent so much time begging people to send photos and never came through releasing any, now they are abruptly shut down. Honeypot methinks.

 

I think it was just a chancer, and they only sent 20 or so tweets over 2-3 days so hardly put in any effort either!

Interestingly I found this log of an IRC chat I think, seems the rootcat user was in contact with some of the original leakers even before the pics emerged from 4chan.

Mentions all the ones we've seen, but also Vanessa H, Selena, Olsen twins, Benzo (who has now leaked).

Also "man mccurdy and asr clean af", implying they got into Janette Mccurdy and Anna Sofia Robb but didn't find anything raunchy.

This could just be bullshit, but if not gives a bit more info.

I've searched for the users, cant find the main guy but the person he's talking to appears to be "Dafox" who is also on reddit, the IRC channel is 'bh', blizzhackers apparently.

 

Im surprised the FBI haven't made any arrests yet, would suggest its not one hacker but a lot more wide spread.

 

That is a motive. There can never not be a motive.

 

Right now I would say that their motivation is to stay out of jail. How much money would compensate you for ten years in a Federal Pen? And, since most computer geeks aren't built like Stallone and Arnold in their prime, how much for ten years of being someone's b*tch? And what amount will compensate you for having that felony conviction on your record and attached to every job application for the rest of your life? And lets not forget that ScarJo's guy also got a 75,000 fine. And they still face whatever civil suits the women choose to bring. Every image they post is another chance to be caught, especially as various boards are shutting this whole thing down. If they're smart, and admittedly they have shown almost zero street smarts, I mean if it was me I'd have just enjoyed the photos myself and just watched and laughed quietly to myself while everyone else posted about wishing they could see this celeb nude or that celeb giving a BJ, but if they are they're burning their had drives, trashing cards and flash drives and getting the Hell out of cyber-dodge. The Feds are serious about this and while I realize that some of you think that's a joke believe me it isn't when it's you looking at ten in the Pen. And if it is a ring, well, a ring is only as strong as the guy that they offer a deal to.

As for the Boards themselves remember that Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton/Justin Verlander et al. own the copyrights to those pictures. I know a woman and her husband, she posted thousands of photos to an amateur site. She was a star there. All she asked was that her photos not be shared on other sites. Well of course they were. Now, she no longer posts and every few days her husband pops into google and searches and then they email out take down orders. Her images exist in ones and twos but whole sets disappear almost as quickly as they are put up. Will the images ever disappear completely? No, but they can make life uncomfortable for a site. And, if people have now paid to see those images you have attached a dollar value that depending on how p/oed these celebrities are (and some of them are and some aren't) they can go after triple damages in court.

So the upshot is that for individuals "collecting" you realistically have nothing to worry about. Posting you probably have nothing to worry bout unless you ignore a cease and desist. That is unless you have the images of the two girls who were underage, get rid of those NOW! Do not pass go, do not try to get 200 dollars, they were underage and that can bite you in the ass. Delete and write over wherever they were. Deleting them quickly can save your ass. I knew a guy, he had one image of someone underage on his computer and he was prosecuted and while he got probation he also had to register as a sex offender. Websites that post the images? That's dicier, you might want to talk to your legal folks. Giving money to try to get people to post more? Well first off its stupid, every idiot and his brother is going to try to rip you off, ,"hey, I'm an oil minister in Nigeria and I have thsee photos of celebrity 'x' having a gangbang with the 101st Air Assault Division", secondly you may be entering into a criminal conspiracy.

Most people get caught because they get greedy. Instead of mourning what you don't have enjoy what you got and wait for the next hack. Two weeks ago did you ever think that you would see what you have seen?

 

I agree we all need a mass debate over these pictures.

 

Slim chance of anything more coming out in the near future. Everywhere is running for the hills. Even 4Chan was forced to introduce DMCA takedown procedures.

No, I would say any potential leakers are going to keep their head down.

 

Well, look at the bright side, we survived the Fapocalypse and lived to tell the story.

 

The hackers should just release all the photos and videos on a torrent or just on a dark web website so everyone there can access them and they will post them on the normal internet where the rest of us live.

Look, hackers hack, when it's all said and done, for one reason: because they can. That's all the motive that really led to this.

It's been pretty clearly established that this wasn't one guy: It was a ring of guys who shared amongst themselves. Somewhere along the way, one or more shared on AnonIB, and they were carried over from there to Reddit, and thence on to us.

Someone somewhere along the line will probably be busted, and probably go to jail, but it won't be "the guy" because there is no "the guy." There are some guys, most of whom kept their noses clean, and won't be found. They'll continue to hack and trade, and sooner or later some other joker will leak more, and round and round the circle will go.

 

That hack is different from The Fappening. You're right, hackers attack because they can, however the images were released online for profit.

All those images are posted on getfile.com unlike imgur.com. I would not go there, the site is showing up as untrustworthy for me.

 

I saw all those download links last week. I haven't tried to download anything from there myself, but if there really were "33 Taylor Swift leaked pics", they would be all over the place. The fact that nobody is producing or saying they have Taylor leaked pics tells me that the link is bogus.

 

Taylor would arguably be the big name if they had full nudes or especially a sex vid. And remember how she reacted when Celeb Jihad had the fake nude. Right now every nut job is posting fakes or just claims to this celeb or that. Even the original lists seem to have had their share of fakes and or mis-ids. And of course this is the perfect way to spread viruses and mal-ware. I certainly wouldn't trust a blind link that doesn't even have censored thumbs backing it up, that's just asking for trouble.
