The Fappening - leaks discussion (don't post pics in this thread)

If any of you have kids, what do you tell them? I'm betting that you tell them to not post pictures on the internet.... because once its there, its there forever. And definitely no nude pics. I'm sure the celebs will make a bunch of money suing whoever to recoup some of their embarrassment. And for many of these celebrities, it will likely boost their career/image.

 

The more he posts the easier he is to find. If he's smart he's ditched his hard drives, severed all connections and spent the day at Best Buy getting a new computer. But he sounds arrogant and the more you taunt the FBI and Apple the more they will come after you. The guy in the ScarJo case got ten years, not the five that I thought, and again ten years Federal is just that, they have no early release. And if he's now looking for bitcoins to help him get away, well anyone helping him is opening themselves to prosecution as well. He made enemies of a lot of powerful people. Now if all you did was download the images you're cool. Even if you downloaded and shared there's probably no problem. Ignore a cease and desist and that's a different thing. The cloud is brand new technology, there are a lot of vested interests who need this to go away.

 

You'd think if he had this planned months in the making he wouldn't be running......he's be overseas somewhere. Well that's what i would do if I could hack and I had months to plan something knowing there would be a huge backslash

 

Or you just keep the stash of nudes to yourself, don't brag or say a word, and keep hacking until you get every possible celeb.....

No, no, no! It's comments like this that drive me crazy. The celebs or anyone taking nude photos is not the issue. It's hackers invading their privacy, and releasing them! Celebs especially young female celebs forfeit enough privacy already. Must they lose every last ounce of it?

The thing that I find ridiculous is the people saying everyone is contributing to ruining these girls lives. Their lives are hardly effected by this. Are you kidding me? Because some pics of their boobs and butts showed up online? I can drive 5 minutes down the road where REAL girls are buck naked on stage. And I can throw $1 bills at them. Breathe hot beer breath on them while they grind against me. And they aren't going home to their $5 million dollar mansions. JLAW and the rest of them are doing 100 times better than all of us right now

 

@ Rated R, I'm not saying the hackers shouldn't be held legally/financially liable for this one bit. But it's the individuals' responsibility to know better and what their gadgets are capable of.
We'd be saying the same thing if all these chicks left their phones on a park bench and some dude "stole" them and posted their nudes. We'd say why are they taking nudes with their phones....

For those that are asking which celebrities were named as the ones that were hacked...

 

One of the things that I read said that it was a ring of hackers who had been doing this for a long time and sharing among themselves. There may have never been an intent to spread them throughout the net. Someone may have been tempted and did it on their own. Also in the hacker mentality this isn't a crime.

true but you'd think once they started to leak or got wind of it, that one of their fellow hackers in the ring were going to release it they would have flown the coupe just to be safe and then release the rest.

Ugh, but that's a terrible analogy, and again, don't see how anyone but the thief is the one at fault here. OK everyone let's not take nude or suggestive photos on our phones or cameras ever again because some douchebag might come and steal it and post 'em! I equate that argument with the "well she shouldn't have worn such a short skirt if she didn't want to get raped," logic. Not much gets me madder quicker than victim blaming. And slut shaming. Also bad.

 

I don't think it was wise to donate to the cause either. May put those people in the line of fire too.

 

Considering that in 24 hours, literally the Internet has been in a frenzy. Not to mention the number of times Phun servers have had to be replaced because of overuse. One imagines what would have happened if "the hacker" had released them all.

I'm pretty sure that someone, or several people have this information, and understand that there are several agencies after them. But their doing this for the greater good.

 

We're not necessarily talking about people with a huge disposable income. To be honest we don't know if the person claiming to be the hacker is one of the hackers. He could think that he gets a lot of attention and then bails at the last minute like the guy who was trying to sell the images. But this is just guesswork on my part, I don't really know.
