Raquel Welch Undresses and Gyrates For Your Pleasure in Bedazzled (1967)

It was a good year for 27-year-old actress Raquel Welch, who, apart from starring in sleeper hit Fathom earlier that year, also had this memorable role in one of the all-time comedy classics Bedazzled (1967), playing one of the Seven Deadly Sins, a.k.a. (Lilian) Lust.

Director Stanley Donen (Singin' in the Rain, Blame it on Rio) certainly knew what he was doing pairing her up with Dudley Moore, Eleanor Bron, and Peter Cook...she had great comic timing, also, in addition to stunning good looks.

Paired down from the HD Widescreen (Blu-Ray) release. The director apparently wanted a 'dream sequence' type shot for these, thus the soft focus, direct backlighting, and shot through a gauze-y curtain for the first part, unfortunately...

If Selena and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's Terry Farrell (who is 50 now, by the way....when did that happen? :shock: ) have anything in common, it's that they both have great nips.

I put the BCS / Final edits I did of Selena's Promotional Appearance and iC's 'X-Ray' of Terry into 'edits-in-motion' for y'all, like so:




The one of Selena morphs through three pics, while Terry's uses five images total (last one's a color edit of her top, so the change might not be readily apparent unless you're looking for it). Best Quality's going to be with the original GIFs on this one... (sorry, gfycat...you guys need a bitrate-slider, at least!)

I was hoping to upload these two as high-quality movies and just convert to .webm for viewing purposes, but I found you lose too much detail in the process for that to be useful (their bitrate's only ~150-250 kbps, even for large res - and there's only so much that AVC in a .webm container can do with that little), so I'd say there's still value in having these as HQ-ish movies, also:

Oh, and I finally solved the color space issues in going from sRGB stills --> YUV (YCbCr) video...about bloody time, too! Too many damn formats out there, and software that doesn't always play nice with each other, folks...cheers!

Good suggestions. Was trying to figure out how to do that seamlessly for the end user, and then noticed that they mentioned 'in passing' in the FAQ that the URL gets updated with the playback info. :thumbs:

Only thing I don't like about that with a movie is you'd have to re-encode first. Using a high bitrate to do that it's not really a problem quality-wise, but it is an extra step. As a means to an end, though, it's workable.

I tend to prefer the subtle, acid-like morphing of the images myself, rather than a slam-bang 'here-they-are, now open wide and say hel-lo!', but to each their own, I suppose. That's what this thread is for, after all...

Well, feel free to indulge your own 'artistic vision' however you like.


I think gfycat's got some definite potential, if they build it out right. It's not really designed for high-quality distribution anyway; it's built instead to efficiently deliver certain (niche?) content at low bandwidth.

Hehe...well, I suppose I've learned, in my lifetime, never to try and assume what 'most people would like'....



...and I think everyone else would agree.

Here's the thing... I like gifs because of their limitations. Making a good one is hard. Exploring the edges of what's possible within limits, even if they are artificial like hiaku or limericks is, to me, what makes Art. That is why I'm not sure if I like gfycat. In ways it makes gifs too easy. That's why I'm trying to look at the limits of that medium.


Also there are definite limits to what anyone can do for 'free'


The one thing I do like about gyfycat is the site makes some crap gifs. If your thinking you can upload video to gifycat and get usable gifs back, good luck.

You can save 'video as' instead of the usual gif. Plus you can pause while you watch and re-size. Just amazing.
