This is the biggest storm I can remember for at least 20 years here.

 

Not in my experience, no. It doesn't care about anti-lock breaking either.

 

The worst winter storm we have had down here in my life time is the X-mas ice storm of '89. Major power outages and slick roads for about 24 hours. I-75 was closed and looked like a used car and truck parking lot. Many major bridges in the area were also closed. We have no salt and could only use construction sand for the bridges.

Ice storms are in a whole different (and usually worse!) category. The worst ice storm I've experienced was when I was married, after we got our house. It was in the late '90s. I can't remember the exact year.

 

Driving in an ice storm is enough to make you get religion.

 

Ice storms can be devastating.

 

I also experienced an ice storm in Atlanta in late January of 2006. That one was more severe and widespread, but Atlantians are use to them as they get one about every 5 years or so. Florida is more like one a century...

 

When I went out this morning to warm the car it was encased in a layer of ice. Roads and driveways were sheets of ice. Driving was pretty interesting as well as walking up driveways. I hate driving in shitty snow and ice.

 

Ditto. It's effin dangerous.

 

I don't know of any sane person that wouldn't dislike it! :?

 

I didn't realize how HIGH the snow was, and how much ice was UNDER the snow, till I took my test-drive adventure. The news says we're up to almost a foot right now, coming down an inch-an-hour, and still won't stop till well after midnight.

 

You certainly invoke God's name in many creative ways, at any rate.

 

That being the key word. I do know a few people that claim to enjoy it.
