What has no weight, can be seen, and if you put it in a barrel, the barrel will be lighter?

Most people aren't. I wasn't able to figure it out the first time I heard it either.

It was implied. :roll: Besides, I didn't say you were wrong, I just clarified the intent of the riddle.
But if you put light in a barrel, how would that make the barrel lighter? The light would be contained within the barrel, therefore the outside would not appear any lighter. Although I suppose you'll say that I didn't specify that it was the outside of the barrel.

 

Depends on what the barrel is made of, which is to say it could be made of a translucent material like those orange plastic safety barrels you see along roadway work zones. Put a light inside and, voila, a lighter barrel.
