Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

So then what made you choose the Flyers? Was it a particular player?

Bernie Parent, Bobby Clarke and Bob Kelly, all the real Broad Street Bullies. They used their style of play to totally dominate a game, series, etc.. Kind of a blue collar game, tough and gritty. That's the style I prefer. The "European" style of play requires a player of elite skills geared toward offense. I like to watch the team as a whole grind the opponent through tightening "D". You don't see that much anymore.

Yeah I remember that one too. 4-1 for the Bullies!!! You're not talking about the one in the early 80s. I missed that one due to moving into this area.

They have his number retired here at the Coyotes arena.

No. I'm talking about the 1976 game where the Red Army team left the ice in protest.

Watched on TV at Paddy's, a local bar around the corner from Grandma Sally's. The owner was sweet on one of my aunts and let me and my cousins watch the TV as long as we didn't act up.

Because his number was retired with the Winnipeg Jets, which the became the Phoenix Coyotes. They briefly unretired it when his son, Brett Hull, played for the Coyotes.

Ironically the new Winnipeg Jets, didn't take on the team's history, as that belongs to the Coyotes. Evander Kane currently wears the #9 for the Jets.
    Was everyone feeling all patriotic?

Patriotic but more of Philly is the shit. In 76, there was already a huge build up to the bicentennial. It was the Bullies against the Reds, and we kicked their ass!!!! Remember the Cold War was still quite a possibility then.

I know. I watched a really cool documentary about it a couple years ago. Plus, I have the full game on my computer.

    I vaguely remember that game.

You mean actual war. The Cold War didn't end until '90, '91 for real.

The threat was always more imminent after the Cuban missile crisis. "We" never knew what the Russkies were up to, and that played into a big part of our fear. Referring back to the Flyers, a bunch of our , blue-collar brothers, just kicked the shit out of the big Red Machine (no reference to the Cincinnati Reds of that time period).
