Basically I was just trying to make a joke that there are plenty of people that butcher the english language. Perhaps we are misreading each other. Unfortunately there is no way to type voice inflection...

 

I know what you were attempting with your comment and addressed it accordingly, which you attempted to dismiss. I think we read each other pretty clear and its safe to move forward.

 

I'm confused. What I meant was perhaps if I had included a funny picture of a redneck, you would've understood that what I said was meant lightheartedly. Had nothing to do with race or anything, it was just the first image that came to mind. I'm not sure what you think I'm trying to dismiss. Just trying to have a friendly conversation.

 

Listen, I understand it was light hearted. However, your choice of that as a response to my saying that asians do butcher the english language certainly had significance. The underlying thought behind it being that stereotyping is silly. My response to that addressed the fact that while it may be silly, I still stood by my opinion that the comment wasnt racist. That was the whole point of asians being mentioned at all and therefore completely on topic. You dismissed that fact by attesting that you were already onto the next subject, when in fact you werent at all. Then came the pics and so on. Did I miss something?

 

Yes, I understood that. I still stand by opinion that what was said was mildy racist.

Here's were I think the confusion is. I had moved on (I said what I wanted to say about the comment I quoted, and had nothing further to add), but I was trying to use the comment to segue into a new topic (something along the lines of a discussion of different accents, not whether or not something was racist).
