The Attention Deficit Disorder Thread

so i want to get 9 or so chickens
i wanted chickens in delphi, that is a rural town, wouldnt have been an issue
but here in toledo, im thinking the authorities might notice
but i have it all sorted

ill just tell them they are wild chickens and just flew in and landed
and stayed

so i built them a coop.


thoughts?

 

Are eggs too expensive at the local Alpha Beta?

 

Phoenix outlawed keeping chickens in most parts of the city. Hasn't proven much of a deterrent.

 

My grandpa kept chickens. Huge ones. And, to amuse himself, he got a tiny rooster. He found it funny to see the small cock trying to mate with the big chicks.

And that sounded really filthy.

 

Maybe that was the point of it.

Why do you want chicken?

 

I like eggs. fresh eggs. And although they are not expensive, cheaper to buy than farm even, it's just that thought I'm getting over on the man.

there is just a satisfaction of knowing your doing it yourself. you dont need the store
my friends in delphi have two large gardens. they harvest enough food from them to last them two years.
so they store some away. we ate green beans from 2010 last weekend.
thats how far into their supply of green beans they are.
2011 they only put back two or so dozen jars, bad crop from lack of rain
2012 they put back 61 jars. a solid harvest. plus enough potatoes to last them the year

point is, they are not saving much money when you put the work v the reward
but its the satisfaction of doing it yourself.

in a round about way, getting over on the man

they would have cows pigs and chickens, but they havnt the property.
i would have cows chickens and pigs, but i live in toledo.
