    no, I don't think so.. I know so.

    well actually the exhausts went out into the water (and some water back in the cylinder) and the pressure eventually caused the radiator to crack spilling all the water and making it overheat. and, since the head is made of aluminium, it's gonna get warped as soon as the bolts come loose (if it hadn't before from the heat)

    it's rather common for volvos to do just that... I just didn't think this one was gonna do it just yet (though it soon has 300,000 miles under the wheels so..)

    I have only worked on American v-8 engines.....except for a Chevy 4-cylinder that had a cast iron block with an aluminum head. :shock: I installed water and oil temp gauges to make sure I would see if it was getting too hot so I could prevent it. I had the car for 15 months without problems, though, the gauges alerted me on several occasions to either slow down or turn off the AC. I had several friends with the same make car that only had the "idiot light" and not gauges....they all blew and warped the heads.

    It took me a while to remember the name of the model of the car...Vega. I got the station wagon style. I sold it because it was too nice a car for my life style at that time....bought a 1962 VW van and a Honda 550 with what I sold the car for. :)

    all cars I had all had gages, however they never move when you're looking at them.. didn't think the idiot light still existed on any models.
