  2. Our gif only content threads have a rule where all thumbs must be posted as a static thumbnail that does not play. Currently imagebam made a change where they no longer produce static thumbs. Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

    a laptop affords its own battery back up - although I prefer a desktop if I don't need portability.

    That is what mine is.....close to ten years old now....a large tower case with 3 internal hard drives. The drives were big when I got it, but now they are considered small, so small you may not be able to buy them that small anymore.

    We get a lot of what I call power blips...power drops lasting a half a second to 3 seconds. It usually takes a major storm to lose power for any long period of time. I heard the arcing sound just before the power went out, so I assume a water soaked limb may have shorted out the lines about a half mile away.

    Same here.....I hate to have to use the laptop; much prefer the desktop. My laptop is currently dysfunctional at present....I need to take it in to have the software system reloaded. I tried on my own, but failed.

    I know you don't have the biggest UPS there is, the place where i worked a lot at has an UPS that's around 1 meter by 80 cm and 60 cm deep and that's not even the biggest there is. That was just for the main server room. They also have smaller patchcabinets that have there own UPS
