You're the one who employed the word amazing, not me. My point is that it should be routinely understood. There are few among us who didn't have a favorite pet as a youngster (or weren't emotionally impressed by the affection of a dog or cat at some point - Jack is a good example, he and the cats he babysat. ) whom we didn't derive great pleasure from, the cumulative calming effect of affection, given and taken. Kind of a no-brainer is all I'm saying.

Reality is pure perception. Cats and dogs transcend that. It's a physical, intuitive thing, not perceptual.

 

Again that's just with regular people........the amazing aspect is that this feeling/experience brings out such a normal behavour within people who's psyches are at this point very far from normal.

 

That is true! I'd still rather call it "amazing" than "no-brainer".

I see it every day with my dad, who can no longer be considered "regular" by cultural or societal standards - for the most part. His interaction with my sister's dogs does not seem remarkable to me, it appears - and is - quite natural. There are no standards in this regard, no nominal or preconceived or even expected behaviors to be assumed resulting from the chemical or biological disconnect of his condition. It's just a man and a dog and how they interact with one another. That relationship is visceral, not intellectual. It doesn't require psychology, only heart and soul. It's metaphysical if you will.
