Okay, let's try.


The Harry Potter novels are an entertaining read. There is an underlying humor that is clearly aimed at adults, so I wouldn't consider them books for children only. The suspense increases with every book until it all comes to a rather disappointing, albeit satisfying climax in the last novel. The characters grow on you, even though I sometimes felt Harry Potter is a little brat.

 

I've read those too you know.


And I'm really being serious.....I don't read a lot of what you read and don't quite want to......but I feel I should know something of modern/current literature.....and I mean actual literature not the general stuff.

 

That made you sound like an evil alien mind parasite.

Yeah....but I'd even read them know if there were more......in-fact I think she is coming out with a new novel.

 

I don't keep up with literature either. There are some writers, like Stephen King and John Irving, whose books I buy & devour as soon as they are out. The book I'm looking forward the most this year is the sequel to Justin Cronins "The Passage", a book that really captivated me. The sequel should be out in October or so.

 

Yes, I saw that... not a children's book. Something about a small village.

 

Exactly stuff like that......and others we talked about before I think.....like "The Corrections".

 

Supposed to be funny......if I remember correctly.

 

I didn't like that one.

The novels I mentioned to Ray earlier are Swedish crime novels by Henning Mankell. A series featuring the police detective Kurt Wallander. Bleak and utterly depressing but very good.

 

Sounds interesting....I'd love to hear about those too......if you care to share your opinions that is.


Also.....you read Swedish?

Yes. I speak twenty-eight languages fluently and no I can't really pull that off.
