    They are called ginnie wasps...I probably spelled it incorrectly....they are much smaller than normal wasps, but their sting is much worse....I would rather be stung by a regular wasp...they can be black, yellow, orange, or red in color....ginnie wasps are colored like yellow jackets.

    Ginnie wasp nests are small....about the size of a walnut....that is one reason why they are so hard to find in shrubbery...I have some plant safe insecticide spray I will use....rattle the bushes with a long stick to get them off the nest so I can see them....then blast away...:p

    For me, yellow jackets are the worst....they really tear me up....major swelling and painful for days....yellow jackets are sometimes called ground hornets....I have not been stung by a yellow jacket in about 55 years and I hope to keep the string free run going...:lol:

    When I was in my late teens, I was harvesting corn by hand....summer job for the Institute of Food and Agricultural Science, a subgroup of the University of Florida....anyway, I reached around a stalk of corn (at dry harvest, the stalks are 6 to 8 feet tall) to grab an ear of corn to break it off of the stalk....well, there was a huge red wasp nest attached to the opposite side of the ear.....I got 13 stings in the palm of my left hand...:lol:....I had to take a five minute break before returning to the area, retrieving the ear to finish shucking it out and placing it into the sample bag....don't think I will ever forget that.....13 raised white areas on my palm with red dots in the middle....first it burned for a few minutes, then they started to itch....the itching drove me crazy for a while.
