Yep. Lidstrom retired. One of the best defensemen ever. His thing was he made awesome plays look so easy and routine that, if you didn't know hockey, you wouldn't have thought he did anything special. He had a quiet, professional demeanor, and hardly missed any games in his career.

Yes. (Unless you were playing against him and had the puck quietly and easily stolen from you by Nick.)

 

a friend of mine played soccer and was kind of like that ... didn't seem fast and wasn't flashy ... but was always in position and without seeming to try too hard he'd strip the ball from attackers, make a pass and suddenly his team would be making a push.

 

All rookie defensemen on the Wings were paired with Lidstrom so they could learn the "correct" techniques about playing defense first-hand. Also, he was a great natural athlete, and probably would have excelled at any sport.

 

btw after last nights loss, I realize that although Jonathan Quick (King's goalie) was born here and grew up in the area, I'd rather see the Devils win the Stanley Cup. Heading in I thought I'd be OK with either winning ... after the loss last night I realized I rather the Devils win.

 

Nick and his family live only about 5 miles from me.

well yes ... but the Devils only play about 10 miles away from where the Rangers play ... so they are a locale temp. Growing up I experience when the Islanders were great ... when the Devils were great and when the Mark Messier Rangers finally got the Stanley Cup for the first time in forever. So I guess I'd root for any of them because they are "local".

In my head, I thought I'd be ok if either team won teh cup ... but after last nights loss I was a bit disappointed and realized that in my heart I'd like to see the Devils win it.

hey good evening Friends.

just got home.

was out running around. harvested a goose and a swan today. gave the swan to an Elder I give my first bird to every spring, he retired from the Airport a few years ago, first one every year I harvest I give to him.

gave the goose to my Cousin I borrowed the rifle from.
