See above. We were talking about the cases where people realized they need help because they really suffer from their dependency to their computers.

 

I know....but I don't categorize avoiding life as a deep or interesting Psychological problem.....people like that just need a shove.....or a hand-holder......none of which are very interesting.

 

Well, neither do we. We are after all the helpers who do the shoving or hand holding.

 

Ah, okay.

 

The courses and lectures we get are not like studying psychology, Jack. They are about the practical work we do.

 

Still......far more interesting holding the hand of somebody with a deeper problem than just a simple fear of life.

 

I'm much more interested in helping someone to cope with whatever makes them suffer than what it really is they suffering from.

 

I understand.....more about how to be the care giver than the analyst.

 

That's right. We don't analyze at all. We need to know what certain disorders are, what causes them, how they are treated clinically, but we do the actually hands-on, let's face life and get on with it work.

 

I'm more interesting in seeing how fucked up the realms of the mind can get.

 

It is interesting. I sometimes have to stop myself from getting really fascinated and asking my clients lots of inappropriate questions.

What's the most interesting case you've had?

I don't know a specific situation. Sometimes I just have the urge to blurt out questions like: So what has happened in your childhood that traumatized you so??? TELL ME!!!

 

TELL ME I NEED TO KNOW!!!! TELL ME!!!

 

The most interesting cases to me are the dissociative identity disorders.

 

Why?

 

I find it fascinating. Hard to imagine, sometimes it sounds so fantastical.

 

There are weirder disorders.

 

I don't really think of them in terms like "weird".

 

I don't either......"interesting" is the right word.
