I always have potatoes with chicken, don't care to much for rice. I do like it on a few things but not many.

 

The kids today here have much more opportunities than when I was in high school....they can actually partner with the local community college to where they have and AA degree the same time they graduate from high school....also, in my case, I could have taken many of the engineering prerequisite courses in chemistry, physics and math for the engineering....all done by the time of high school graduation....would have saved a ton of time and money! I also would have stayed home while going to college so I did not have to work....just would have put up with the parent BS...I could have graduated much earlier and with a Masters instead of just a Bachelors degree....

 

chicken and rice is a must.. though I really like the rice. I think I could have rice and gravy more often.

 

same here. been a freshmen-tutor for 2 years. we tried to show them public spaces, bars and stuff besides the university - the final "class" was pretty uch desinterested in everything that could keep them off learning and starting a great, prosperous career. wonder how they are today...

def. initeresting and teasing to have some "second chances" with all gathered experience, but in the end - nothing wrong with being able to sing an honest "my way" one day...

meh. weekend ahead, spring not too far away... brighter thoughts!

 

Should have learned somethign else in school.. like how to rob banks and stuff. they seem to have so much better lives in the movies.

I think being in the work force also gives a different perspective on school. I felt like I have had more discipline going back to school than when I went to undergrad. I am not sure if this was the result of pressure to keep up with younger students or because I appreciate the opportunity more ... Amazing how just a few years shifts the frame on pop culture, etc. - "the music these kids listen to ..." :biglaugh:

 

My oldest is in the 10th, he's taking prep courses this year already in English and Math. Hopefully he'll do well enough in the go ahead and take the regular 101 classes his Senior year...that's the plan anyway.

To each his own...Mashed potatoes goes with everything here in the south like most all others it's rice. Almost everything here is fried instead of baked or grilled too

Yep, my student loans for grad school are going to suck. I predict that education loans are going to be the next big 'mortgage crisis'

I can totally relate to what you are saying.....my biggest motivation was to get my degree....I find engineering generally very interesting and fun, so student motivation was always there. Working in an engineering office helped two ways...1) I was able to see the practical side of engineering which gave me the endurance to get thru the theoretical BS at college, and 2) I was pissed that I was doing the engineer's work for him at half his pay...
