Well, since you asked.......I would use a relatively simple Gothic font, use a 3D warp, and use the drip effect with the color of the drip being a slightly brighter hew of the dark rusty red background.....

yeah. Consensus last night was to not make the text overbearing. This one is supposed to be about subtlety. the name is "Colombina" from the Commedia dell'arte. She is Harlequin's mistress and wife to Pierrot.

How about putting a 1px lightgrey border around the font

 

Cy, a method I use to keep the script from being too bold is to use a dull color for the script with a thin out line of a picture compatible on the script. The brightness and width of the outline can be adjusted to get the effect you want and provide better readability.....

 

And the drip can be of the same color as the script...not necessarily blood red.....the drip is to enhance the Gothic effect....
